Welcome to the list. I am a first time mom, my son is 6 months old. He is

the sweetest thing in the world. I am a stay at home mom, which is great I

love seeing him grow up, but I am losing my sanity staying in this apartment

all the time. I plan to nurse until he is ready and weans himself.

Becky,

Welcome to the list. Congrats on your latest. All babies are different and its

great that you know what happened with your daughter. That will give you a huge

advantage. I am Wendi mom to Kaija 7yo and Zaid 16mo. (nursing). We live in

No. CA. and I am a stay at home mom. We homeschool and plan to for a long time.

Glad to have you here. There is tons of good info here so you've come to the

right place.

Dena-

I have Healthsource and had the same stipulation. While I was pregnant

2 and some yrs ago- I had gestational diabetes- I was put on the

American Diabetic Diet and tried to follow that after my child was

born... I lost some and then plateau'd out.... BUT- my OB (who is a

good friend) wrote a letter stating that I had been on this diet for 2

yrs.... That did the trick.

I found that frist you have to have a doctor document it (to be most

effective) and two-0 the wording should be real specific- the first

letter we got from my OB was glowing but not good enough.

If you have been trying and your doctor knows that- ask them to write a

letter saying you have been on ....... since ...........

Good luck! Bonnie

-I am also trying to deal with my HMO. I had to get 25 years of medical

records together to appeal. Dr. Rutledge in his information form asks us to

list every diet we have been on etc. and I was shocked to see how long my

list was! I have literally tried everything over and over again and every

diet left me eventually larger than when I started. I honestly think that

dieting is one of the main reasons that I am like I am today. In Texas if

an appeal is turned down you can request a hearing before a third party that

is like binding arbitration, and if my appeal is turned down that is what I

plan to do. I think the world descriminates against fat people in every way

possible and we have been brain washed into accepting others opinions of us.

Keep fighting! Pat

Healthsource is the very worse - i had to fight for 1 1/2 years to get

approval - went thru an appeal, then they loss the paperwork and I had

to start all over again - i really believe they are unethical and lie

like crazy

Hey , don't worry about the stomach and being able to over eat after the

surgery. It is not possible. When you eat the limit it feels like you ate the

whole turkey dinner. My limit is about four or five tablespoon. Today I had a

half of a taco. That was the limit, totally full, can't eat another bite

limit. So this is absolutely something that you can't cheat on. Can't be done

period. Take heart and don't worry. The whole thing just kind of flows once

you have the surgery. I am probably having 200 to 300 calories a day, and that

is very satisfying. Take care, Lori Hankins

I second that. Isn't it wonderful!!

That's the 'magic' of this surgery.

I know that if I try to take one bite too many, I'll be miserable, so

the power of negative reinforcement makes me 'happy' to stop

BEFORE I eat too much. Who said you have to eat the " whole thing "

to enjoy food? With this surgery, you don't eat the whole thing (or

even half)...you just FEEL like you did!!

Take care.

Hi ....

You inspired me to make MY first post here! *smile*

I am also 'new' to all this. I have had my first meeting with

Dr. R and my second meeting will be this coming Saturday.

I also have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NC....the PCP plan.

My insurance was just filed last week, and I've not yet heard

anything.

I am curious to know if you also have the " PCP " plan with them?

Good luck! *S*

Robin,

Welcome to the list! and congratulations on

breastfeeding despite the lack of support from your

family. I'm , mom to Bart who is 10 weeks old.

I'm working part-time right now and will be full-time

in 6 weeks. Pumping sucks (no pun intended!), but I'm

committed to Bart having the best.
