I also remember when Pirate's Booty was also advertised as low fat and turned out not to be at all. And then we have a store who estimates what the points are but never shows the label so I am wary of that too. ~~ in NJ~~ So Many Books, So Little Time Currently Reading: Prayers for Rain by Dennis Lehane Just finished: The Mulberry Tree by Jude Deveraux ( No Second Chance by Harlan Coben (C/3) Green Angel by Alice Hoffman (A+/10) Home Before Dark by Wiggs (B+/7) Family History by Dani Shapiro (A/9) Next Reads: The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst The Lake House by

Guest guest
I prefer either Quaker Chewy Granola (chocolate chip) or Kudo's M & M bars for 2 points. They are cheaper than the WW bars. I also prefer the Vanilla or Strawberry Yogurt Nature Valley chewy granola bars for 3 points over the WW bars because they are bigger and the strawberry or vanilla yogurt on them takes like icing. > I LOVE the 2 point peanut caramel bars from WW. :-) > > :-)---Holly---<--<-@ > 302/224/180 > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: NRK18@a... Guest guest
I took a look at the labels on the WW foods and I was really grossed out. The two point bars are made of corn syrup, sugar, sugar, and partially hydrogenated fat (the " trans-fat " that is SO unhealthy!) The " Fruities " are made of one of the sugar alcohols (mannitol, I think) which can cause diarrhea, so don't eat too many. If you like eating food bars, there are other brands that are only two points and don't have all this corn syrup and trans-fat and crud. The Powerbar Pria, for example. The Barbaras' dessert bars. Maybe some of the Luna bars (most of those are 3 points) Or, half a Kashi bar. But all bars contain either trans-fatty acids or saturated fat... hopefully in the next year or two we'll get labelling requirements like the ones in Canada, where manufacturers must list saturated AND trans-fat grams on the label. Guest guest
I have tried both Pria bars and Kashi bars.. Maybe it was just the particular ones I tried, but both were very dry and hard to chew. I have never heard of the Barbaras' dessert bars before now, got a website? I completely agree that we need better food labels here in the US. :-)---Holly---<--<-@ > -----Original Message----- > From: Betsy Schwartz > > I took a look at the labels on the WW foods and I was really > grossed out. > > The two point bars are made of corn syrup, sugar, sugar, and > partially > hydrogenated fat (the " trans-fat " that is SO unhealthy!) > The " Fruities " are made of one of the sugar alcohols > (mannitol, I think) > which can cause diarrhea, so don't eat too many. > > If you like eating food bars, there are other brands that are > only two > points and don't have all this corn syrup and trans-fat and crud. Guest guest
I agree, Holly. Forget the stuff about " trans fatty acids " or corn whatever. I care about TASTE. If it doesn't taste really good to me, I'm not going to eat it. I also don't buy into that " I'll develop a taste for it " garbage. I'll go with what tastes good anyday, as long as I can stay within my points. > I have tried both Pria bars and Kashi bars.. Guest guest
I don't think the weight watchers bars are that good, and I've tried most of the ones with chocolate. The only one halfway decent was the chocolate krispie one. Better yet, buy the Low Fat Quaker Oats Choco Chunk bars that are 2 points. I do eat the fruities though. I like the lemon ones. They are tart and chewy, kind of like jeujeu candies (sorry not sure about the spelling). One whole strip is only 1 point, so you get a lot of milage out of that I think. One word of caution though, they can give you horrible flatulence if you eat more than one strip in a day! > Do any of you buy these products which they sell at weigh watdhers meetings. > The frutities coem in different falvors and are 1 pt for 12 pieces - they are > small pieces but are real tasty if you need something sweet. > > The 2 pt bard a realso small and expensive but coem in wonderful flavors liek > Peanut Caramel, Chocolate Fudge etc. > > I am really wondering if they are only 1 and 2 points. > > This reminds me of when the Seinfeld gang was eating low fat ice creamd and > gained weight and they then found out the ice cream wasn't low fat after all. > > ~~ in NJ~~ > So Many Books, So Little Time > Currently Reading: Prayers for Rain by Dennis Lehane > Just finished: The Mulberry Tree by Jude Deveraux ( > No Second Chance by Harlan Coben (C/3) > Green Angel by Alice Hoffman (A+/10) > Home Before Dark by Wiggs (B+/7) > Family History by Dani Shapiro (A/9) > Next Reads: The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst > The Lake House by > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I've always wondered myself why, when WW is supposed to encourage healthy eating, that they put all that CRAP in their products. They are loaded with artificial junk and carbohydrates and bad fats... I try to avoid them as much as possible. Guest guest
It makes the product cheaper for them to produce and allows for a greater profit margin for the company.
