Guest guest
Could this popping sound be a symptom of tjb, a crooked bite? Larry

Guest guest
Larry, The popping in my left ear is more pronounced than it is in my right. According to my CI audi, my hearing is also worse in my left ear, so this makes sense. My hearing loss is sensorineural in nature and from what I understand, popping sensations are typical for this kind of loss.
Guest guest
, I think we have something in common. The popping was also more prominent in my left ear. Sometimes it would sound like a bailiff's hammer when I moved my mouth back and forth. My dentist, Dr. Jolly, suggested a dental appliance to straighten my bite. People around me could hear me popping and that really put a different meaning when they told me to shut up. At that time, I was working at Kolor Print, a photomat film processor. I had a moderate hearing loss. Larry
Guest guest
Hi Larry, I wore a jaw expander device when I was 14. Ouch!! The popping I experience (particularly in my left ear) has been a long term problem that is exacerbated by barometric pressure changes, humidity and smoke allergies. The right ear also pops although it tends to be more intermittant than the left.

Guest guest
, Yes, I also wore a jaw expander but it hurt so bad I didn't wear it very long. So much for that horrible disease. I am also highly allergic to cigarette smoke. Larry
Guest guest
, and Larry, The intermittent popping I was talking about previously was internal and heard by no one but me. To me, it seemed to be associated with something in my ear firing off the last of whatever was there. Re: Good News!! > , > I think we have something in common. Guest guest
, No one can hear the popping sound in my ears either. That gives me even more reason to suspect that it's due to my sensorineural hearing loss.

None of us deserve what we have to go through, nut we've gotta keep searching for the best solutions. I know how hard it is to accept disability too. It's been 3 years since I've been on, and I still have a hard time with it. We've gotta do what we've gotta do though. Sending good thoughts, smiles, and prayers your way!........
