Guest guest
Hello all, How about some information from some other users of propafenone (rythmol). I have been on this anti-arrythmic 300mg. twice a day for the last two years. I would say it has meant a definite improvment in my symptoms but certainly has not kept me in sinus rhythym all the time, the under statement of the year! In fact I am wondering if it sends you into atrial flutter, you know fast 150 bpm plus, but really regular? Also can it cause excessive slowing under 50 bpm? I am trying to figure out if some of my symptoms could be brought on by the drugs or if I am getting into some kind of sinus node problem. I hate the thought of wires being rammed into my heart (EP study) if it is just drug related. I am also on a very low dose of atenolol 25mg. a day, and warfarin dose according to blood test results. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks, Germaine Atlantic Canada ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca
Guest guest
Hello Germaine, I have no experience of Propafenone but I was on a low dose of Atenolol (50mg at night) and throught the time I was taking it I would wake many times from sleep in the night, with rapid regular heartbeat, which within 5 minutes or so would convert back to NSR. I had never experienced being woken in the night with AFib, nor had by so many frequent regular intervals and I came off the Atenolol, and I havent experienced them with the same regularity, or even in the night, since. In my case that was directly caused by the Atenolol without a doubt, but then we dont all respond in the same way to Atenolol. Guest guest
> Hello all, > Hello, I am on propafenone 250 mg - three times a day (I am also taking Diltiazon 180 mg once a day). I have been on it now for about a year. When I first went on it I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms, but as time went on the A-fib attacks came back to the level that it was before...at times worst. At times my I had problems like you explained. It felt like I was in an A-flutter. I also had times where my heart felt like it was quivering. Most of the time, however, it went into the normal A-fib. I have had an ablation in Nov. and I have been istructed to stay on the medicine for another six months, then I will slowly take myself off of it. I liked the propafenone because I did not have any noticeable side affects. Unlike the Amiodrone before that. I thought I read somewhere that the propafenone could change your heart rate and make it lighter and more rapid. I can't remember...however that did happen to me. Things are going fine for me since the ablation...I highly recommend one. It has been a life changer. I hope this helps Mark...Lacey WA > How about some information from some other users of > propafenone (rythmol). I have been on this anti-arrythmic > 300mg. twice a day for the last two years. Guest guest
Hi Germaine After 8 years on Amiodorone, my heart was no longer convertible to NSR. I have been totally off Amiodorone since Nov 1st. I think I am experiencing thyroid upset now. The Cardio did not adjust down my synthroid that was started with Amiodorone way back when. Do you have any insight on this or any other effects of leaving amiodorone?? You really need to call your doctor and get a medical opinion on both your high and your low heart rates. I know that Flecainide can cause aflutter, and that can be diagnosed by an EKG. I understand that Rthymol is structurally similar to Flecainide, but I don't know if it can cause aflutter. Your doctor should also be able to answer questions about whether or not the drugs are causing your heart to beat too slowly, if indeed it is.
