Guest guest
Well, if it was just sugar free foods, then we would all be ok!!! I am a 25 year old type 2 diabetic, was diagnosed in October I believe (looking back at journal entries). There are many sugar free foods that are still full of Carbohydrates, and this is the real monster! I even stay away from the " low carb " craze, because these foods are sooo full of calories that they overshadow the low carb part. I eat whole foods mostly, lots of veggies, and whole grains. I eat lean meats, and yes this includes my home grown beef. I bake our bread from scratch, though I don't eat much of it. I am an avid gardener and " farmer " . All things in Moderation is what I say. If I want chocolate chip cookies, I bake cookies, and eat one. send the rest to work with hubby who loves them. I would rather eat full fat full sugar ice-cream, and just eat a serving of it. I just work out more at the gym the next day! I eat what I want, just in Moderation. Yes I know that this isn't the best thing for everyone, but for me it works. My food is NEVER boring, and always fun and nutritious. how can it not be fun with all the wonderful colors of VEGGIES, and meats, and whole grains??? I just don't see how refined grain pasta is soo good for someone who cannot metabolize the carbohydrate in it??? White breads and refined grain pastas are like feeding straight sugar to a person with diabetes. These turn DIRECTLY Into sugar in the blood stream, causing sever spikes in blood sugar, then causing severe LOWS. This is DANGEROUS for people with diabetes. Our goal is to keep our blood sugar at an even level through the day, not allowing extreme highs or lows. I don't see where this is a sugar free recipe, specially with the salad dressing.. Have you READ the ingredients on there??? it has SUGAR! Now, if this was made with a whole grain pasta, even quinoa pasta, it would be much better for any of us. again in MODERATION. Like half a cup. I don't think that joining this group and saying that you are concerned with our health, then posting poison recipes then posting your DIABETIC SUPPLIES website. I SEE THIS AS SPAM! this group has a no Spam policy. I honestly don't think that it is appropriate. ok, just my 2 cents... I have to go get feed for the chickens, the sheep and cows... the dogs are kinda hungry too... then off to work in the garden with my 4 year old! Angelia in OR who doesn't let diabetes control her! and gets irritated with the whole " diabetics cant have sugar " thing... IT IS NOT TRUE! ----- Original Message ----- > I am new to this group. > > It is no secret that Diabetics need carefully controlled, well- > balanced meals. Guest guest
That is what herbs and spices are for. Or are you one of those American cooks who only uses salt, pepper, lemon juice, and butter, and thinks that adding acouple of bay leaves or sprinkling a little paprika on for color is 'daring and exotic'? Re: I am new to this group. I don't eat food that doesn't have flavor.
Guest guest
I don't think that he was talking to you Fawnee... The person that posted the Original message, the one about the supplies list, was a spammer, and I just went off on them... I didn't mean to attack anyone in particular, except for the spammer who posted her " message " . the same exact one (message) showed up on a Young diabetes list. and in her post I distinctly remember her talking about aging people... come-on??? LOL... just irritating... Angelia in OR ----- Original Message ----- > > Oh please...I use a variety of herbs and spices and grow my own herb garden. I happen to believe that just because I'm diabetic doesn't mean I have to settle for blah, boring food. I gave up adding salt and using things with added salt way back in the late 70's. > > Fawnee
