Sub: Senior level Vacancy for HIV/AIDS and Health Professionals

 

We are circulating details of a senior management vacancy for the position of

Balasahyoga Strategic Director that has arisen with Family Health International

at Hyderabad, to all senior development professionals.

 

Balasahyoga is a programme in Andhra Pradesh that ensures that children and

families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS receive comprehensive and high

quality care, treatment and support in order to lead better lives.

Under the Balasahyoga programme, the 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh have been

assigned between the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and Elton

AIDS Foundation (EJAF)-supported consortium partners (Family Health

International, the Clinton Foundation and CARE-India) and the GFATM partner,

India HIV/AIDS Alliance.

 

The CIFF and EJAF-supported consortium is implementing the programme in 11

districts of Andhra Pradesh and will potentially reach 40,000 households and

provide comprehensive HIV care and treatment services to around 68,000 children

and 68,000 adults.

 

Programme outlay of the CIFF/EJAF supported Balasahyoga programme is budgeted at

around US$14 million over a five-year period. The programme is into its second

year of implementation and  presently supporting around 14,000 households and

25,000 children, infected and affected by HIV.

 

The Strategic Director is a senior manager with responsibility for providing

management and technical oversight of the programme in the 11 districts, to

ensure that the project is effectively and efficiently implemented.

 

The incumbent will provide leadership, management oversight and technical

direction to the project, supervise technical and programme staff, and liaise

with government officials, partners, and donors, in close collaboration with the

programme teams.

 

S/he will report to a senior management team comprising directors from the three

consortium member organizations: FHI, CF and CARE-India. In addition, the

Director will be responsible for organizing the work of managers from these

three organizations and the Andhra Pradesh government, in order to ensure that

the programme is coordinated and that all parties are working together towards a

common goal.

 

Applicants must be senior health professionals with at least 15-18 years

relevant HIV and child health programming experience including exposure to

international development programmes. A minimum of five years of supervisory

experience is essential.

 

The ideal candidate would be:

 

(1) A strong programme manager with an impressive record of success in

implementing complicated projects or programmes involving multiple stakeholders;

(2) Experienced in developing, monitoring and managing budgets;

(3) Interested and experienced in working in the field (on-site) to provide

supervision as well as assistance in the implementation of programmes within the

community

The incumbent will need to possess a possess Masters/ Post Graduate degree in

Management/ Sociology/ Social-work/ Anthropology/ Medicine/ Public

Administration or related field.

 

Some of the desired attributes are:

(1) Clear communicator, with strong oral and writing skills and the ability to

negotiate and advocate persuasively; 

(2) Problem solver with the ability to identify issues and devise creative

solutions efficiently; 

(3) Strong analytical, communications and people management skills

(4) Preference given for those who speak Hindi and Telugu.

 

The annual compensation will comprise of an excellent package commensurate with

International Organizations. Final offers will be based on the qualifications,

experience and salary history of the selected candidate.
