I have, and research the doctor thoroughly. Kaiser referred me to an outside hospital as they didn't do ablations. I had an SVT ablation a year ago which they felt would " cure " my a-fib as the SVT was usually a trigger. Not only did it not help, but it caused damage to my heart which now shows up on EKG and which precludes me from taking any of the meds most on this list can take. I now still have SVT, a-fib, and a third problem they haven't put a name on but has to do with my -pwaves disappearing or something and which feels different from afib or SVT when it occurs. It sucks the big one. I never investigated the other doctor, figuring Kaiser wouldn't refer me to someone bad. Plus, the doctor who did it wrote pages of notes on how successful it was, so I'm not sure if he really thought he did fix me, or he was covering his own ass. Just be very careful. Lots have good ablation stories, so listen to all of that too! And good luck. Toni CA

Guest guest
Hello, I've recently found your site. I am 44, female and was diagnosed with lone paroxsymal AF 5 months ago, although I think I've had it longer and I've had SVT for over 10 years. I am due to go into hospital - 24th Feb - to have an EP, where hopefully they can ablate the SVT, but on doing research I now feel that ablation is not very successful for AF and am thinking of asking them not to ablate the AF at all. I am worried that they will burn out my sinus node and cause more damamge. Been reading alot about PVI, but it seems to be in its experimental stages in UK, although I have read some great success stories from the States and France. Do any members have any advice about AF and the ablation procedure, or have any experience of having AF and SVT? Thanks, Lesley
Guest guest
Hi Lesley I assume that you are in the UK? I had ablation in January at The Heart Hospital in London, it’s too soon to be sure that all is definitely OK but the EP’s were very Confident and pleased with the initial results. They came across very competent and professional. At this stage I cannot really say more, except that I was very comfortable in their care. If you would like more details, then please mail me directly Best regards, Tony UK Hello, I've just joined. Hello, I've recently found your site.
