Guest guest
Our Board has so many nice features; and one feature in particular I rather enjoy. If a member posts a message, and a member or several members reply to that message, those replies are recorded at the end of the original message. If a new message is created, that reply does not register as a reply to the original message, but rather starts another thread. I'll use Message Number 23028 as a good example of what I'm referring to. Click the message below; then scroll down to the bottom of that message. There you will see all the replies to that message, including the message number, the author's email address and the date the reply was posted. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AFIBsupport/message/23028 Please also note that when replying to any message, you may change the subject or re line. Despite the change in the topic line, that message will also be recorded as a reply to the original message. But again, if you should start a completely new message, it is not recorded as a reply to the original message. Its kinda nice to view a message and scroll down and see *all* the replies to that particular message. You also have the opportunity of clicking just the replies to that message rather than scrolling through the Message Board for anything related to that subject. This is just one of many reasons I would encourage our Individual and Digest Email Members to visit our Board often. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AFIBsupport/messages Hopefully, this will be a helpful hint to our new folk - and if any member would like to add anything here pertaining to this feature, please feel free. Guest guest
Two other advantages to replying to a message rather than creating new: (1) The author of the original message can check out all his replies on one convenient screen; and (2) The Moderators/Members can review the message board to see which topic has the word " Re " before it. If there is no " Re " in the subject line, they assume that that message has not as yet had a response. Take a look at Message#22878 below entitled Flecainide. That message had nine replies. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AFIBsupport/message/22878 Ellen ************************** (snip)If a member posts a message, and a member or several > members reply to that message, those replies are recorded at the >end of the original message. Guest guest
Sorry everyone - I didn't mean to say that if the message didn't have a " Re " in the subject line, you could assume it had no response. What I actually meant to say is that all the responses to that message have a " Re " in the subject line - and if I scroll through and there is no " Re " for that particular topic - then I assume there is no response. Oh boy ~~~~~~~~~ I think I'll quit while I'm ahead! This is clear as mud...right? Anyway, I sure hope someone understands me. Just humor me, and say " Yeah! " Check the " Re " lines out: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AFIBsupport/messages Ellen ******************** (snip) review the message board to see which topic has the >word " Re " before it. Guest guest
Ellen and all - I didn't know about this linking feature, and can see the potential value in the linkage Ellen describes. But --- I wonder how many forum members actually use this linking feature except on rare occasion? Well, if everyone remembers to Snip, Snip, Snip, the clutter will still be reduced that way..
