To my understanding, that's hypertrophy, most commonly of the left ventricle.

Like most cardiomyopathies, it's all about degree: a mild case may have almost

no clinical significance, whereas severe wall thickening can lead to " sudden

cardiac death, " surely one of the least warm and fuzzy phrases in the medical

lexicon. I have it as well, and I would advise learning the exact wall thickness

measurement and comparing it with the online clinical papers. I'm not aware of

any direct link to AF, but I'd sure be curious to know how many of us have that

diagnosis -- a database addition perhaps?

I was reading an article on AF and reference was made to "

thickening of the heart wall " anybody care to expand on this

subject and is it a result of AF ?.

Left Ventricular Hypertrophy means, I believe, your left ventricle is larger or

thicker than normal.
