Hi Maura

I had ablation just over two weeks ago and was extremely nervous

and frightened up to the point of walking into the Cath lab. I then let the

Doctors take over and along with the medication I relaxed. In the UK the

procedure is done in a semi conscious state, which I had originally thought

was a gruesome idea, but as the procedure progressed I realised that I was

keenly interested in what was happening.

I did find some pain during the ablation, but the moment that I made this

known more amnesia was instantly given. My operation lasted over 5 hours,

but it only seemed like a short time before I was back in bed. Lying still

and doing as I was told proved to be the hardest thing. Don’t be too

concerned if you feel discomfort in your chest as I did, it passes very

quickly.

Looking back I find it hard to believe that I went through it all, MRI scan

as well, it’s surreal!

Have confidence in your Doctors and Medical staff, have someone close there

for you and you’ll be ok

ablation

I will have an ablation tomorrow and I am getting really nervous.

Any advice would be appreciated !

Just think that after tomorrow you will be cured of fib and not have

to suffer anymore episodes. No more drugs or blood thinners. That

will be great. I admire you for going for it......as I sit here with

a piece of roll up tissue in my mouth trying to stop a gum bleed that

started this morning after I brushed my teeth too vigorously. <the

joys of warfarin> You'll be done with all that after tomorrow. I'll

be having good thoughts for you and keeping you in my prayers. Let

us know how it went when you get home and feel up to it. And it will

probably be hard to do but try to get some sleep tonight.

God Bless, P
