I am envious! If I ate a banana and oatmeal, my bg's would be over 250, I'm quite sure. To have only about a 20mg/dl rise after that meal is wonderful! Your other readings are good too. Don't be concerned about that 72. Hypo is under 65. Although my daily average is about 100, I haven't seen a number in the seventies for years (actually since I got off the Glyburide and the bg roller-coaster it and the ADA diet put me on). Keep up the good work. Oregon

" Normal People " have a fasting/pre-prandial bg range of 70-110mg/dl, so you are doing just fine except for the " morning " thing. Your 120 morning reading is better than a very large percentage of diabetics, but still could improve some. You are definitely on the right track. Guest guest
The pork roast was fine, Pat. It's possibly the milk that got you. Low fat means higher sugar where milk is concerned. Skim milk shoots my bg levels up faster than orange juice. Rita " Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just. " -- Jefferson Re: Really Stupid Question--who'd a thunked well, i had a little piece of pork roast last nite before bed (and some cereal the dietitan had recommended with low fat milk). yep, i was at 143 when i got up this morning. i know that's not horrible (according to doctor and dietitian), but it's not within the normal range either. guess if i get hungry around 11P tonite, i'll get some water and go to bed. pat

LOw-fat milk has the most carbs of any of the " milks " . Just see the labels. Some cheese or nuts or maybe low-GI vegies with the pork and you may get different (better!) results in the am. It's worth trying. Most medical professionals still consider a diabetic to be in good control with bg's of 150mg/dl and 7.0% HbA1c. At these levels there is increased risk for complications. I know the reason they do it, and it isn't because it's best for the patient. They are covering themselves and hedging against hypoglycemia because the typical diabetic is in such poor control (based on the diet & meds they have prescribed). For this reason, I wouldn't get too hung-up on their opinion of what is or isn't horrible! But that's just me, of course. Oregon
