Thought I'd introduce myself, since I just joined this group this afternoon. My

name is Stefanie and I'm 40.. have had " butterflies " for as long as I can

remember, and had my first AFib episode in the fall of 2001 after a hard workout

(lasted about 18 hours, and converted waiting to see the Dr. in the ER). Since

then I have had an episode every several months, ranging from a minute or two,

to the longest being 4 days (during which I was hospitalized to no avail -

converted only when I begged to go home and get some rest).

I am currently smack in the middle of what is now my longest episode.. or

actually if I don't convert in the next few hours it will be... and it's bumming

me out. I went to the cardiologist on Friday, before the magic 48 hours, and

am now back on coumadin and giving myself Lovenox shots, which I do NOT love..

Go back for pro-time tomorrow, and back to the cardiologist on Thursday for a

follow-up. I assumed when I made the appointment, that I would convert, like I

always do.

All by three of my episodes have been brought on by drinking cold liquids.. this

current episode was the result of brushing my teeth before bed! I have tried

everything I can think of.. Body crunches, neck massage (arteries), eyeball

presses, deep breathing... I have doubled up on my Tiazac to 480 per day during

this episode, I have rested, relaxed, tried exercise to get my heart rate up

with the hopes that it would convert naturally as it relaxed, cold water to the

face and chest, hot drinks, and lastly I just took a warm bath with Epsom salts,

which I believe I read about here... thought " what the heck " ... nada..

My doctor has also recommended that I investigate the a-fib ablation up at U of

Penn, since my episodes are so infrequent and they are always a big production

of drugs when they go too long. Plus, as I'm sure I share the feeling with the

vast majority of those who will read this.. I'm really tired of this..

So that's me.. bum ticker and all!

Thanks. That's one thing I like about this diet--it's not set in stone...calorie

counting or point calculating... ;) This is my second time--I gave up last year

and just went back to my old ways.

Look forward to hearing success!!

> Welcome ! I'm on day 3 of my second try on phase one, and looks like I

might get it right this time, thanks to this wonderful group of people here.

They are really supportive, so relax and enjoy yourself.

Hi , Welcome to the group!

> Hello.

> I'm a 32yo single parent, graduate student struggling with

depression while working on my dissertation. I have 75 lbs. to lose.

I'm 5'5 " and 213. I'm a member of the online site, but I find it

sort of easier to use the yahoo groups!! Basically due to time

constraints--I can't continuously go through all those message

boards.

morning than the first day--if only because I just had to start my

period the 3rd day into Phase 1. ?!?!?!
