Guest guest
Ok. I used to have a Cooking Light software, I think, that organized recipes, and I think you could make meal lists for the week of what you were going to make, and it would make shopping lists for you. I think it even had a feature that tracked how much of everything that you had. It would subtract from what you had when you made something with those ingredients, so it would send you warning flags and add to the shopping list if you were running out or were low on something that you needed for your weekly plan. I have to look into what that was, it was quite handy. Also I remember the shopping lists were grouped into catagories, so all the vegetables were in the 'produce' section of the list, and so on, which would save a lot of time not running back and forth in the grocery store. thanks! Guest guest
Amie...I use RecipeWorks which is really pretty good. You can try out the demo here... http://www.softwaredr.com/RW/index.html It works similarly to Mastercook (probably the Cooking Light software you have), but it has a palmpilot module too. Very cool. I can make grocery lists and download them to my palmpilot. It's also very tolerant of cutting and pasting from many different formats. Amie I save the ones I want to try out on my computer. When I'm ready to try them I print them out. If they are good I put them in my 3-ring binder. If they are not going to be made again I toss the hard copy and delete it from the computer. For Mac users, I've got a hyperstack called MacChef which I use to store recipes which I like and will use again. I like the format it uses for printing out. -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@... Guest guest
Amie, When I find a good recipe, I copy it and paste it into a Word document. When I have a bunch collected, I print them and put them into a three ring binder. It is kind of like a food scrap book. It's my favorite cookbook, because it's my own. In fact, I just went through and got rid of most of my store bought cookbooks. I don't worry about keeping them in order on the computer, because when I print them I cut them out and put them into the appropriate section of the cookbook in a page protector. Guest guest
I like all these ideas, and think I will combine the three-ring binder with online storage for helpful shopping, etc. Thanks everyone!
