Guest guest
Hi , I have not had any problems with the Kadian. My Pain Management Dr tried me on the Fentanyl 25mg patchs which gave me the most relief I have ever had for a few days then I got very sick and almost died. Those patchs are 80times stronger than morphine. I was also alergic to the adhesive. I do ok with the Kadian but I think we may have to up my dose a little cause I am having too much breakthrough pain. But I have't had any side effects other than constipation. GritsGrill Kadian: Pain Meds For those of you who take Kadian, what is your experience with it? I am facing pain 24/7 and my Vicoprofen isn't helping (it wears off within two hours and I need to take 8 or so a day, and the manufacturer recommends 5 pills daily). I read the website for Kadian and it seems this medication has a wide variety of strengths and is more of an extended release type medication which will last longer. Any side effects? Thanks for your help. Love, Becca gritsgrill <gritsgrillyahoo (DOT) com> wrote: I haven't taken Cymbalta or Zoloft but I take Effexor Cr 300mg daily and I haven't had any weight gain with it. I've actually lost 40lbs in the last year but I think my high dosage of Topamax (200mgdaily) has helped with my weightloss. That and I have this stomach emptying thing so I get full really quick and stay full for a long time. Nurontin made me gain a lot of weight when the DRs gave that to me for sleep. Now I take Ambien CR 12.5mg at night. I am also on a lot of pain meds. I take Hydrocodone 7.5/325 mg. 2x day and Kadian CR 20mg 1 Xday. I have Klonopin 5mg for anxiety when needed and sometimes I still get breakthrough pain. And believe it or not there are still times I can't sleep. My husband takes Cymbalta and he has not gained any weight and my oldest daughter takes Zoloft with no weight gain. We are just a whole family that should own stock in the drug companies. If I had any money left to invest at the end of the month that is what I would invest in. LOL GritsGrill ------------ --------- --------- --- Finding fabulous fares is fun. Let Yahoo! Guest guest
Do you have any other conditions other than FM? I am betting my doc will be reluctant to give it to me since it is morphine. Thanks so much for the reply. Becca Vicki Lihs wrote: Hi , I have not had any problems with the Kadian. Guest guest
I almost died from the fentanyl too. I was on 100mcg for a long time and was losing weight in the process. As most of us know, usually the smaller you are the less meds you need… my body didn’t realize that. I was found unconscious on my living room floor. My brother found me and for about 4 days when I was in ICU and no one knew if I was going to live or die. We don’t even mention fentanyl to my brother. Guest guest
Boy, I am sorry to hear of all your additional problems. I had a hysterectomy at 26, nearly four years ago, and my pain is definitely worsening. I had endometriosis; I have never heard of endometrial cancer and I work in hospice. Is it rare?
