Guest guest
WHO is this directed to? And sorry to say, I work HARD, using my protocols to the fullest, to stay out of court. All that I know, LAWYERS are more than smart enough to ask me the DUMB, WEAK, B/S questions. No one is saying that education is a negative... far from it... but it does no good when you have poor protocols and cannot work to your full potential... OR you have kick-butt protocol and not use them to their fullest potential. As long as we keep in mind that patient care & customer service are top priority, EMS is unstopable from being looked at as a profession. ***DISCLAIMER*** excluding those folks out there that are viewed as professionals by there community [both medical and geographical]. Feels good to have a service with the reputation of " THE BEST OF THE BEST. " It was a very great compliment that came from another medic. Thank you to Sneed, Dr. Benold, Jeff , our Capts, our Lts, our Sgts... and GREATER thanks and appreciation for our Field Staff [CEMTPs and LPs]. We did awesome over the holidays... despite the fact that we were not busy at M33. With great appreciation, Junior , EMT-Paramedic on County EMS Medic 33-Blue
Guest guest
Excellent. Now, next time you get sued and need an attorney in court, DON'T go for that educated idiot with the law degree! Find you one that has been SWEATING it out learning by working! Though I'm not sure how they LEARN to be a lawyer without going to law school. Would it be the same train of thought to say that GOOD medics don't go to school at all? Why go to paramedic school? Shoot, we'll just jump right in and start working on patients. THAT's how we'll learn it! Ridiculous? Of course. School is necessary. You CAN'T do EMS without a formal education of some sort. Do you then learn by doing? Of course, experience is the best teacher. BUT ONLY AFTER FORMAL EDUCATION! The question isn't " is school better than experience? " . The question is " how much school is beneficial " , then " how much experience makes a good medic " . Two different questions. As for pay, the question is " do you get paid for experience, or education? " . Both, of course. Could you have your job without having gone to Paramedic school? No. Would you make what you make without experience, and/or do you make the same thing you did when you got out of school? Do you make more for more education? Probably. The EMS workplace values EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION. A Minimum of BOTH is required to get most jobs, and some further increment of BOTH is required to get ahead. And it appears there are two sides to this education debate: Those who think degrees are good, who mostly have them. Those who don't think degrees are worthwhile, most of whom do not have them. =Steve=
