Cholesterol

I saw some of you talking the other day about your cholesterol levels. I'm wondering if anyone can beat my high score of 425? That was from last year. My doc immediately put me on Crestor, and after the first retest I went under 200, but as of last month it was up again, but only to 275 this time.Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones-and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats. My cholesterol was in that general range, give or take 10 or 20

points before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism years ago and put

on medication. My cholesterol levels plummeted to normal within

about a week and have pretty much stayed there over the years.

It's hard for me to say if Crestor has me more fatigued than usual. Among other things, I'm on Skelaxin, Ultram, Wellbutrin, Paxil, Reglan, Parlodel, Rynatan, Nexium, and birth control. I know I missed a few. I'm only 39; I can't wait to see how many drugs I have to take in 10 more years. I'm going to try to go off the Paxil once I finish the current bottle, but I'm stuck with all the others for the forseeable future. I do know that I have to have a No-Doz and a mocha Frappucino at work every day in order not to fall asleep (I've actually done this a few times; luckily I haven't been caught). I think it's because it's an 8-5 job, which is a new experience for me. I've only been at the job for 2 1/2 months. I keep hoping my body will adjust.

Re: Cholesterol

I started out years ago with about 346, then it "stabilized" around 250, after the med Zetia it dropped to 199 (hey I'm cured -NOT), next time it was 236. My next blood test is in Feb. I'll be curious to see if SBD has an effect. How are you feeling physically taking Crestor?? I felt terribly fatigued on Zetia. Since it didn't continue lowering my chol. count I stopped taking it. It is one that no liver profiles are needed.PS everyone - I'm feeling fine after going back on Paxil. Hugs,Diane S.cancer survivor61 yrs. youngVirginiaAt 07:24 PM 12/13/2004, you wrote:

I was on Skelaxin for a while and I know that tires you out. I'm not

familiar with the other meds. Hope all these meds are helping you. I've

been on my share. In fact I'm trying to get off some of them.

Hugs,

Diane
