Guest guest
Seek and Ye Shall Find!!! I just saw that Whey Low is now accepted as an ‘artificial’ sweetener in the SBD – ALL PHASES!! It is an all-natural product actually made from three sugars that interfere with each other’s digestion – no chemicals! I have had it in ice cream before at a local store and it does not have any aftertaste, etc., like the artificial stuff, also it doesn’t do anything to my blood sugar after use (I’ve tested it). I have not used it for cooking before but am ordering it right now!! www.wheylow.com -Amie From: Amie Sent: Wednesday, December 08, 2004 3:30 PM To: South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right Subject: RE: P2 Get The Fudge Outta Here Arrrrrrrggggggghhh there has to be something we can use other than artificial sweetener! My friend said she saw today on the site we can use fructose to sweeten things in phase 1 – up to the 75 calories allotted per day. -Amie From: tink0907 Sent: Wednesday, December 08, 2004 12:28 PM To: South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right Subject: P2 Get The Fudge Outta Here Just found this recipe on a discussion board: This is for all you chocoholics out there, who are in P2! I call it " Get The Fudge Outta Here!!! " 1 1/2 cups Splenda 2/3 cup non-fat evaporated milk 2 tbsp SB approved margarine 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips If you want, you can add a tbsp of vanilla extract, some chopped walnuts, or whatever you like) Combine Splenda, evaporated milk, salt and margarine in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Add the chocolate chips (and the nuts if you wanted them), stir until melted. Pour in a pan lined with wax paper (I used a plastic container, no paper, it got a bit sticky) and chill until set. Now, if you make this with real sugar and regular ev. milk, it'll get hard enough to cut into squares, this way it'll still be a bit too soft, but the taste alone is SO worth it.
