Guest guest
I have had PSC for 3 years now. My weight has stayed steady, not fluctuating more than 2-3 pounds for 10 years now. Suddenly I feel like my stomach is distended and I constantly feel like my stomach is full. I also have gained 5 pounds even though my crohnes has been extremely active. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I feel like I should be losing weight, but instead I am gaining. thanks, Cheryl _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected? Guest guest
Hello Cheryl; I am very sorry to hear about your distended stomach. I think it would be a good idea to see your doctor about this as soon as possible. One possibility is that you might be experiencing " ascites; the accumulation of protein-containing (ascitic) fluid in the abdominal cavity " . This often accompanies liver disorders. Build up of fluid may cause " abdominal expansion (distention) and discomfort. Pressure on the stomach from the swollen abdomen may lead to loss of appetite " : http://www.merck.com/mrkshared/mmanual_home2/sec10/ch135/ch135f.jsp Do you also have swollen ankles (edema)? Of course I may be wrong in suggesting this possibility, but it would do no harm to visit with your doctor about this. Guest guest
Cheryl, I have had the exact same thing happening to me over the last year--except I have UC. I do not have ascites. The bloating could be from a number of things, colon distress from crohns, hiatal hernia. I am also surprised that I am not losing weight. I don't have much to help, just thought I'd tell you I'm experiencing the same thing.
