Guest guest
Are you experiencing a UC flare-up (or about to)? Any change in UC medication? See http://www.ccfa.org/research/info/skin for details. The only one I've ever experienced is the first one listed. I've also had eczema, but under control with just lotion now. The only thing that helped with the eczema was a prescription topical steroid. Once it was under control, lotion was sufficient. With the cold dry weather we've been getting (frost warnings tonight - in August!), I've been using more lotion. Arne53 - UC 9/77 - PSC 4/00Alive and (mostly) well in Minnesota From: Myrtle McMillan For the past six days, I have had what I thought were hives on my left hip, but it turns into a raised rough red patch after a few days and very itchy. I have three patches about two inches in diameter. I've been using 's anti-itch gel three times a day and it really helps but very slow at clearing it up and now I notice another small patch. Is there something I can use that would help this condition. Would it be caused by my weakened immune system or something I ate. Can't really think of anything different I have had lately. Guest guest
Quantell has been fighting a similar-sounding skin problem for a couple months now. The dermatologist diagnosed it as a viral infection and prescribed an ointment. (Cultures just came back yesterday, and they confirmed the absence of fungus.) Of course I'm blanking on the names of both the virus and the ointment. What I do remember is that it is indeed because Q is immunocompromised. The resident had never seen this condition before and it's not contagious to me or anyone else in the household -- but it does keep popping up in new spots on Q. Might be worth a call to your derm. The ointment is Rx only, and the pharmacy had to special order it. On the other hand, it's not dangerous, nor will it have any internal impact. It's just annoying, itchy -- and unsightly. Guest guest
I have the same condition, but on my hands. My dermatologist calls it " dermatitus " or eczema, and as Arne indicated, i was prescribed a steroid topical lotion called " fluocinonide " , a powerful one but one has to be cautios in applying it because if used for longer periods than indicated it might suppress one's immunity. It did produce a result but iam kind of very reseve in using it and so the condition keeps returning back. Mine, i guess is the result of excessive hand wash. --- Myrtle McMillan wrote: > For the past six days, I have had what I thought > were hives on my left hip, but it turns into a > raised rough red patch after a few days and very > itchy. Guest guest
, Is the iLex cream over the counter? I'd like to try it. When my puritis flares, it is exactly as you describe, right down to the sores that don't want to heal and itch, too. I have horrible scars on my legs and lower back! Sorry to hear you have the same problem, but happy to hear there's something that helps...
