Dear Forum Members and NACO,

Re: /message/9203

I am very glad about the discussions in the forum on the

selection of GIPA coordinator in SACS.

I would like to add some points that really show the non existence of GIPA at

SACS in Tamil Nadu. TNSACS has called for applicants for selection of GIPA

Coordinator on 12/12/2007 in The Hindu, and TNSACS has gone through a process by

conducting a written exams on 12/03/2008 and interview on 20/03/2008 and has

shortlisted three HIV

Positive candidates, who are graduates, part of a network and working in the HIV

field for couple of years.

The names of the shortlisted candidates were also published in the TNSACS

website. The shortlisted candidates were not selected as GIPA Coordinator in

TNSACS, but a Professional Social Worker has been appointed as GIPA coordinator

in TNSACS.

In addition to it the a non-PLHA has been appointed as PLHA coordinator in

TNSACS.

Currently in Tamil Nadu, there are around 78,000 enrolled as members at the ART

Centers and with in the enrolled members around 40,000 are part of the PLHA

Network. Around 5% of the members who are part of the network are graduates.

Is there a meaningful involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS in the country?

Whether NACO is aware of such situation going on in SACS? and what action NACO

will take against these situations?

Hope NACO will take this issue as priority and work towards creating a

meaningful involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS in the country

Thanks and Regards,

R. Ramesh
