Guest guest
Hi there Yes- my specialist Dr Blecher is a great advocate of neck stretching exercises for all babies with plagio, whether they wear helmets or not. I'm not really a tort expert, but plenty of people here are, so they would know more about the physical therapy side of it and what physical therapists do. But Lucia never had a tilt or anything noticeable and she was never officially diagnosed with tort. It was just when I came on this site, I read a paper with a standard tort test in it, so I did it(by going behind her with her following me with her eyes first on the right, then on the left, if that makes sense) and I realised that she could not turn round all the way on one side. I then noticed she actually couldn't lie her head on the bulgy side completely, which is probably why she had plagio. So even if you don't think they have proper tort with a tilt, then neck stretching can really help- she regained mobility in her neck incredibly quickly once we did the neck stretching exercises the specialist gave us. It's something to think about- although there is no reason to think this will happen again anyway. One mum on this site has only had plagio with her fourth child, so there is obviously a bit of luck/individual difference in there as well. It would be lovely to see your little one if you can post pictures. I still haven't done mine... Take care, don't stay up too late!!! Hannah (mum to Lucia, london, UK) Cranio grad (plagio) > yes...its late, another 20 mins and I turn into a pumpkin! (at midnight) You know what pregnancy does to sleep patterns ) ! > > I really should take a photo of our sons head and show you. If it was only a small flat spot I wouldnt be so concerned. > > We bought a helmet for Jordan to wear on the back of my bike, the helmet doesnt fit him! Because the back of his head is too wide. However with a squeeze the helmet fits his almost 8 yr old step sister. And to think they said Jordans case of plagio is mild to moderate, I feel for the parents of a child with severe plagio. > > Thx for the hints on what to look out for next time round. Did your specialist say what can be done if the baby does have neck tightness, or just a matter of time? > > Jords Mama > (, Mum to Jordan and Baby #2). > > > Re: New Here. > > > > > > > > Hi there > > > > It's good to hear your story- welcome to the group!
