, thanks for the great reply. When I was investigating Nicolas'

problem before we'd seen the specialist, the more I read the sicker I

felt about it. It almost feels like I've done this to him but I know

that's crazy. I was asking the specialist how I prevent this in the

new baby and she said " Now you know what to look for " meaning it

wouldn't go as far as it has with Nicolas. She also bashed the back

to sleep program a bit which I found interesting.

I love the baby spa suggestion, thanks!

I know, I know...they're born with these perfect little heads, then

we try & be such good parents and look what happens...the more I talk

to people the more common this seems. Ahh, yes, hindsight.

I've heard a number of professionals now quietly bash the back to

sleep thing...but no one can/will ever tell you to do anything

otherwise for fear of a whopping lawsuit. Our PT had one positive

thing to say about it (other than the decrease of sids, an obvious

benefit), and apparantly there is quite a significant reduction in

toe deformities. HA HA!!! Isn't that great? I guess front-sleeping

babies would mash their toes into the mattress. Now their toes are

PERFECT and they're just mashing their heads.

I wonder how long this will last?

I am laughing so hard at the toe thing. Of course I had to take of

my shoes and check mine out. Nicolas' look perfect, one less thing

to worry about. : ) I think there are going to be more gadgets on

the market as plagio is talked and written about. Like this DEX

backsleeper with the memory foam for his head. Car seats with a

cutout maybe. In thinking about the next baby I am going to try to

alternate head sides in sleeping with a side sleeper and use the

back thing with the memory foam. And do a little more tummy

sleeping. I was paranoid about putting Nicolas to sleep on his

tummy especially since he didn't raise his head very well. My hubby

has two grown daughters and he would put Nico down on his tummy all

the time. I of course, being the diligent Mom who read about SIDS,

would go in to flip him over to his back. Like everything in

nature -- once we change something it has ramifications in another

area. Sids / Back to Sleep / Plagiocephaly. I've heard the

term " epidemic " from a few doctors in regard to plagio. Makes you

want to hand out literature and the new backsleepers.

Congrats on his perfect toes!

You're right about the gadget thing...and i'm sure that since we're

oh-so-very aware of the problem, we're going to own every single

one! Or maybe they'll change the rules again, babies have to sleep

suspended in mid-air from harnesses or something. :)

Hope the tort exercises are getting easier!
