HIV infected man escapes divorce with intervention of positive network

The Theni District Network for positive People (TDNP+) is affiliated to The

Tamilnadu networking people with HIV/AIDS (TNNP+). Their work in voicing the

rights of people living with HIV/AIDS is explicit with witness at the field,

where the PLHA are grateful and volunteers to work with TDNP+ for the rights of

PLHA. One of the outstanding case study is at your visibility:

One Mr. X was found to HIV positive. His status, when disclosed to his wife who

found to be negative with her male kid who was also found be negative, was at

stake of losing his pleasant and peaceful 12 yrs of married life , when his

wife began worrying about her health and chance of getting HIV/AIDS . When her

thoughts were shared to her parents and relatives, the situation worsened and

unwise counsel led her to separate from her husband and kept her often found in

her fathers house.

The angered relatives and parent of the girl often raised a hull at the poor HIV

positive man and often threatened him of divorce and put him to shame by

revealing the man’s HIV status to the society. One fine unfortunate morning, the

panchayat at the village was called and the women who had shared his pain and

joy summoned a Divorce from her husband. His pain knew no bounds and within the

one weeks time he pulled himself to the positive network in Theni and cried out

his pain and agony to the counselor.

This heart-breaking issue of void gap between the two stirred the network to

intervene and counsel both the husband and wife on HIV, its spread, its

prevention method and the concept of positive living. Frequent meet with Theni

positive network dissolved the stern thoughts of Divorce in the women and put

herself ones again back into her husbands arm.

Thanks and regards
