Guest guest
had her casting appointment today and it went very well. She cried a little near the end, but for the most part did not mind it much. She will be 7 1/2 moths old when she gets her band and we are hoping for the best. Her head is flat on the left side behind her ear. She does have some ear assymentry, but it is not to severe. has tort but does have a full range of motion thanks to the stretching. She still always wleeps in the left side despite all of our repo efforts. Is it possible that she will regress after she is completed with the band? Thanks, Mike
Guest guest
Hi Mike, My son does not have tort and is not flat on one side. He is flat in the back. So what I tell you is obviously just my opinion since I do not have experience with what has. I may be wrong, but I will try to help. First of all I am glad that 's casting appt went well. From what I hear only 1% of babies regress after graduating from the band. So that is a good number. But if still has some form of tort after graduating I think she has a higher chance of regressing. When she sleeps if she is still laying on one side it could be a problem. You definitely should get that resolved before graduating. What is good though is that she will be a few months older so she won't be laying down as much and her head won't be growing as much as it is now. My son sleeps on the back of his head and won't sleep any other way. He has been in the band 2 months now. I started a few weeks ago to try moving his head while he is sleeping. I wanted him to get used to moving his head different ways so that when the band comes off for good he won't regress. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. He just moves it right back. I thinkg will be fine when she graduates. She will probably by about 10 months old so she will be crawling and up most of the day. Just try to get the tort problem resolved for good. Good luck Marcy and (7 months) 2 months in DOC band # 1 Awaiting DOC band # 2 New Jersey
Guest guest
Hi Mike, Welcome to the group! Sorry if I missed any of your previous messages. I agree with alot of what Marcy said. My son didn't have tort but his sleeping positions did change as he got older. He would NEVER sleep on his tummy at 's age and now he loves it. Their growth also slows down around 12 mos. old. I think regression is quite rare and wouldn't be too concerned about it. I'm so glad to hear that her casting went well! What a little trooper and I'm sure that you and your wife are relieved. Hope that helps you. I'm very excited for to be starting therapy! She will get awesome correction. It'll be over with before you know it. Sue Colin F., 13 mos. Guest guest
Mike, I'm happy to hear did well during casting. It's impossible to tell which infants will regress after treatment. 's age is on your side. The older the baby the less likelihood of regression. In all, I think 1% of infants regress. To help not be in the 1% I would continue working on her tort. Even if she does not have a noticeable tilt. Infants with tort should be closely monitored up to 18 months. We have tons of ides for strengthening and stretching neck muscles.
