Guest guest
Hello, I am the mother of a beautiful baby girl that was recently diganosed with moderate to severe plagioceohaly. As a result of the significance of her plagiocephaly, cranial banding has been recommended. I would love to hear from parents that live within a 3-4 hour radius of Charlotte, NC about the type of band they used (DOC, Star band, orthotist created, etc), personal expereiences, and which pediatric practice diagnosed your baby. Also, if you have any contact information for the banding clinic that was used that would be great!! I am willing to research several options and drive several hours to make sure that I've made the best decision for my little girl. Thank you so much for your help!! Guest guest
Hi . We live in Huntersville and my son (Braden) has been in a DOC band for 2 1/2 weeks now and we are already starting to see results! We go to Cranial Technologies on head St. in Charlotte. They have been great and very helpful. Braden has moderate plagiocephaly/brachycephaly, and his pediatrician recommended that we not pursue getting him banded, but I disagreed, and so we looked into it and decided to follow through and get him a band. After doing research it seemed to me that parents of children with DOC bands were very happy with the results, and I liked the people at CT in Charlotte, so we decided to go with the DOC band. There are before and after pictures that you can look at for various types of bands. It appears that they all do a great job correcting the problem. In my opinion, you don't have to drive 3 or 4 hours outside of Charlotte to get excellent treatment for your daughter. CT has a free consultation. You might want to go in and check it out to see what you think. Do you live in Charlotte or close by? How old is your daughter? Good luck whatever you decide to do! Guest guest
Hello , Welcome to the group. You are lucky you have 2 options in Charlotte. Cranial Technologies (maker of the DOC band) and Hanger (Hanger Cranial Band and possibly the StarBand). I see Sue gave you the contact info for CT. I don't have the contact info for Hanger but their website is www.hanger.com. They don't have a lot of info about the Hanger Cranial Helmet on it. I do know they have some experience and are nice people. We have a current member going there now. I took my daughter to CT. It was the only option I and my dr knew of. I am from Florence, SC. My pediatrician wrote the RX when na was 3 months. She was banded at 4 1/2 months. She wore 2 bands and graduated this past February at 8 1/2 months. We had a great experience at CT. They are casting 50-60 new patients each month. They have a lot of experience! We had a long trip every visit and they were very accomodating when traffic wasn't The Durham office is closing in January. The Charlotte office will remain open and take their patient load.
