Guest guest
Does anyone know how soon you can get yeat from taking antibiotics? I started on Cipro 500 yesterday morning (a bladder infection). 2 x day (takin 3 so far) and noticed increased vaginal burning after the 2nd pill. Is that too soon for yeast? Guest guest
Cipro can cause burning because it is one of those antibiotics that cause problems in the digestive tract. I guess whatever causes problems there would also cause vulvar problems if the stuff causes imflammation. I always eat yogurt when I take antibiotics. Some of them say not to use dairy and if so I wait a couple of hours after taking the pill or eat the yogurt an hour or so before taking the pill. But I have never knowingly gotten a yeast infection from antibiotics. I only got one many years ago and don't know what caused it. Guest guest
I found the following which seems to indicate that SUPPLEMENTS should not be taken with Cipro but that food is all right. http://www.online-health-pharmacy.com/_buy_cipro.php CIPRO DRUG INFO HOW TO USE: Take tablets by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow cipro tablets whole with a full glass of water. Although this medicine can be taken with meals, it is best to take ciprofloxacin on an empty stomach. One hour before or two hours after meals is the preferred time. Do not take with magnesium/aluminum antacids, sucralfate, Videx® (didanosine) chewable/buffered tablets or pediatric powder, or with other products containing calcium, iron or zinc. Cipro may be taken two hours before or six hours after taking these products. Cipro should not be taken with dairy products (such as milk or yogurt) or calcium-fortified juices alone; however, cipro may be taken with a meal that contains these products. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Finish the full course prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional even if you think your condition is better. Do not stop taking except on your prescriber's advice. I don't know where your directions originated but very often when folks reproduce directions they abbreviate them. Ora >Thanks Ora....Cipro is one of those that says: Do not eat >calcium/zinc/magnesium (including dairy and yogurt) 6 hours before or >2 hours after taking it. I am having a hard time finding that " magic >window " that is safe to eat the yogurt! LOL As long as I know that I >could get burning that quickly after starting it, I can relax. > >Lynn
