Guest guest
--Hi Jules, My son got his band at 8 months of age and with regards to it is not too late for him to get a band.Luckily, our insurance covered most of it.From what I read from the messages that was posted here, there are some people that went ahead with the helmet therapy and then got reimbursed by their insurance company later on.Good Luck. Guest guest
Jules, Welcome to the group, I'm glad you found it! It's sound like you are handling this really well. We'll do whatever we can to help you along the way. Colin was 9 mos when he started. The orthotist's co. faxed info. to my HMO and we got a denial letter within 48 hrs. I already had the apptm't made for getting the helmet ordered; I was going to pay cash just as you. I also proceeded without getting out-of-network approval. Long story short (I'll give you the long one later if you need it) we got the denial reversed and were compensated 50% which is what DME rider I have on my policy. Good luck and please let us know if you have any questions. There is a ton of info. in the Files, Database, Links, etc. sections (to the left). Sue Colin F., 13 mos. Guest guest
Just wanted to say hello and offer some support. My son has brachycephaly too and we just started the helmet a week ago! I hope that everything goes well for you. Luckily our BCBS will pay 80% but we decided that we would pay upfront too even without knowing. It is too important not too. I was afraid that they would insist on proof of trial repositioning etc. but the didn't. It was all based on the cephalic index and his age. Best wishes! From what I have read you have enough good time left to get treatment.
