Guest guest Posted August 10, 2002 Report Share Posted August 10, 2002 - Your schedule sounds just right; some people have their scan after 2 weeks off Cytomel, but as with every other aspect of this disease, there are variations. Did your doctors discuss going on a low iodine diet before your scan? If not, I think it's something you should seriously consider (see http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Thyca/message/15575). As I said in my other letter to you, thyca does not recur in most people, but it does recur in some. However, if your upcoming scan shows uptake, this is not a recurrence, but an indication of an incomplete ablation. You have Hurthle cell carcinoma, which tends to behave in a differently way than straightforward papillary or follicular. - NYC Romero wrote: > I live in Rochester,NY.
