Janie and and anoyone else who may know,

If my adrenal gland is not working properly wouldn't the thyroid

medicine actually cause harm if I increase my dose even higher than

2 grain. I understand that unless I know what shape my adrenal gland

is to help with the t4-t3 process I should not go up on my dosage.

The increased dosage will make me feel even worse and can cause

greater complications without the adrenal gland being in proper

balance right or wrong? I read in the files here on this site that

too much tyroid medication without an adrenal balance could actually

kill you. I believe it was in the second article in the files

folder. have you heard of this.

Since I have never been on any medications before I am somewhat

fearful of overdoing it.

please advise - I am totally exhausted again and somewhat feeling

like I am comming down off of a no-doze or a caffine pill (sort-of)

I haven't read that particular article, but I have read many that say that, if

the adrenals are exhausted, and you can't make enough cortisol to keep up with a

finally normal metabolism, you will probably have some uncomfortable symptoms,

that may feel like hypothyroidism. That's because, when the thyroid hormone

starts stepping up things to where they ordinarily should be, the adrenal gland

has to work double time to turn it over, and you would feel more exhausted. The

thing is that you must begin to resolve the adrenal problem first, in this case,

and work on the thyroid at the same time. I suspect this in myself, but haven't

tested it. I inched my Armour up about a month at atime, and it took me much

longer to get to 120 mgs than a lot of people took to get up to 300. It's the

cost of the testing for adrenal substances that is stopping me from finding out.

When I do it, it's going to be with salivatest.com, but for what I intend to

have it will be around $300 or maybe a little less. Time to get tested?

Hi . It's such a hard call, and so individual. There are many

of us who never needed adrenal support, and did fine raising the

dose. A very small minority found that even the smallest dose of

Armour gave them terrible reactions. Others are in the middle--they

simply added adrenal support and liked the results!!

If you have poor adrenal reserve, it will become obvious!! And in

most folks, it's not severe adrenal issues. It's only enough to make

it obvious i.e. a raised dose doesn't seem to work, or a very small

dose causes problems. You haven't had the latter. The former may

seem like your case on 2 grains, but it could also be the case that

you are simply not on enough Armour!

The dangerous part with thyroid support is if you have severe poor

adrenal reserve. And there ARE some signs of that before you find

out with thyroid support. There are symptoms like having very low

blood pressure, or an extreme difference in blood pressure between

lying down and sitting up (where it would rise). Or, your pupils

responding slowly or oddly to light. Or, strange reflexes,

especially in the heel. Or, a strange sounding heart. Do you have

any of these??

And the bottom line is always that you can get on adrenal support

like Isocort or others right now before you raise. Or you can raise

and just see---you may do fine.

Hope that helps.

,

Just for your info..... The test I did (prog, est, test, DHEA, and diurnal

cortisol) cost

$240 on salivatest.com (ZTR Lab). Each test is $30. I had 8, as the diurnal

cortisol is

4 separate levels. IMHO....worth every penny.

I know, I went to the site and found out, but what I saw was that the $240 test

only included one estrogen, the estradiol, I'm thinking. That's why I said mine

was probably going to be about $300 because I won't go without having all 3

estrogens tested at the same time.
