With reference to your e-mail about second line ART.

In India presently NACO is providing a combination of TDF/3TC, LPV/r +/-AZT for

second line drugs. This has recently been started at Mumbai and Chennai in

January 2008 and this year nearly 3,000 patients may require second line drugs.

The second line ART drugs are presently being supplied to NACO by Clinton

Foundation The operational guidelines for roll out of second line ART are under

pilot test at two sites i.e. J.J. Hospital Mumbai and GHTM Tambaram.

The experience gained from this roll out shall be used to further expand the

second line ART at other centres/ State. As there is no third line ART

available, the roll out of second line has to be very controlled and strongly

monitored for adherence so that patients can continue on these drugs for long

time
