Guest guest
Hi there I suspect that the orthotist is downplaying this a little to manage your expectations. Many babies in this group and others have seen very good correction at over 1 year, but you do have to be prepared that it will be slower and may not be as complete as with a younger baby. However, if you can keep in mind that 'slow but steady wins the race' with slightly older children, you will probably get a good improvement. It is not guaranteed, however, and sometimes I have seen posts from parents who are disappointed at how long it takes to see correction after about 10/11 months, so I suspect that your orthotist is trying to prepare you for the worst case scenario, but in the hopes that you may be very pleasantly surprised. The best result would be that it would be improved so it wasn't so noticeable and that you were happy with it as well- and this is certainly feasible at his age. Good luck- and keep us posted with how your little one gets along. They can have a wonderful growth spurt at any time, so here's hoping!
