Guest guest Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Hi I haven't posted much at all to this group, but I guess I ought to keep you posted. Last week, 20th September, we took , 6 1/2 months to see the good German doctor. My husband and I had kinda got our heads around the fact that our baby was going to have to have a helmet, and so really it was an exercise to get the ball rolling and have a cast made. That makes it sound as if we are medical professionals, but we are far from it, but you just know with your kids don't you. Despite everyone telling us it was ok, and hardly noticed and was getting better, you know when you have to do something!! Anyhow, the assymetry was measured at 1.8mm, so just within the moderate category, and was doing ok with the fuss and attention. Then came the casting!!! Bless his heart, he looked like a bank robber with the surgical stocking over his head! He yelled, and was cross, but wasn't trying to stop anyone from getting on with their job. You feel so helpless, cos you know they have to have htis bit done, and it is for their best interests too!! Anyhow once the plaster was on and we were waiting for it to set, fell asleep.....poor love. Only to be rudely awoken when the cast was taken off!! Oh motherly instincts just kick in don't they.....I scooped him up in my arms, plaster and all, and hugged him to sleep!!! Thankfully babies are very forgiving! Anyhow the upshot of all this is that is to be fitted with his helmet on 4th October. A bit of me is very apprehensive, and a bit of me is excited and wants to just get on with the whole process of fixing ' head. Do't know if any of you other Brits are off to see the Doc that day or not? Thanks for listening....I will post again....I just find it hard to keep up with reading all the messages here....there are so many! and (nearly 7 months!) Quote
