Guest guest
Hello again Rick. Yes , at Cranial Tech they do the adjustments at their clinic every week if under 6.5 months I believe and every 2 weeks if older than that. I understand the hesitation about accepting Cranial Tech's assessment of the situation. I felt that way myself at one point (before dealing with them) since I felt that they would just try to sell me a band. I think they would likely say one of three things at your child's age: 1) Your child is too mild to band 2) Your child would benefit from banding (i.e. moderate to severe range) 3) It is your decision (mild to moderate range) The reason I recommend going to CT for a consult is that they are truly the experts in dealing with plagio. They see many more cases than the specialists do. It all they do, day in, day out. You could certainly go for the consult (it is free) and have your child treated elsewhere. I mentioned it mainly because I feel they are the best source for an opinion on plagio. I repeat, you certainly do not have to receive treatment from them. If your child is too mild to benefit from banding then CT will tell you that. I live 8 hours from Cranial Tech and I would go there again for a consult (but might opt for a treatment option closer to home) if we had a child with plagio because I do value their opinion. Even though we got good results from our son's band we still had some concerns about his headshape even after treatment and inquired about a second band. Our CT clinician told us that she didn't recommend a second band. We discussed the second band for about 15 minutes and she still said that,no, she didn't recommend another band. We accepted her opinion. I am telling you all this because you had mentioned getting a second opinion. The other option would be to take your child to the orthotist in your area who would be providing the treatment and get his/her opinion. Good luck. Personally -- not to sound too jaded --- I'm a little uncomfortable with the idea of going to the manufacturer for a recommendation about whether or not to buy the product. Not to be overly cynical (for all I know cranial tech may be totally objective and fantastic), but it is a business and I would think they would want to sell as many as possible. We may go that route, but I don't know if I'd be totally comfortable with their recommendation if I couldn't find an independent doctor that agrees. But our impression of his head shape will weigh most heavily without a doubt. > > Rick
