I feel for you, finding out that he will need surgery. Is it the tendon transfer surgery or something else? My daughter has had a bit of a relapse and has been back in a cast just recently. I just took her cast off today, and she's back in the DBB full time now until we go back to Iowa to have Dr. P check it out. I've heard wonderful things from Dr. Ponseti and others about Dr. Herzenberg, so it sounds you're in good hands. I'll be interested to hear how things go.. Oh, my name is Sara and my daughter is Ivy. She was born with unilateral clubfoot and hip dysphasia, she is doing fine now. We had Ivy treated by Dr. Ponseti when she was 5 mo. old. My husband and I briefly met Dr. Hertzenburg this past Sept. at the Clubfoot training in Iowa. I am sorry about your son and the about possible surgery. I can understand the sick feeling that you all are having. However, straight functioning feet is the goal. It surgery is needed it will be okay. I don't know if this helps or not.... When I was a baby and tottler I had many surgeries, ( I was born with cleft lip/palate) and I don't remember discomfort from them. Plus I have a beautiful smile, and my mouth functions well.LOL Likewise, I don't that will remember the casting, the DBB, and the surgery. Guest guest Posted January 21, 2001 Report Share Posted January 21, 2001 Marci, I assume from what you have said about Dr. Herzenberg's waiting until Griffen is 2 1/2 to 3 years old that he feels that the anterior tibial tendon transfer is what will be needed and not the posterior release surgery. Is that your understanding of what Dr. Herzenberg is considering?
