Diet Chart for ART Patients

Dear Forum,

This is to bring to your kind notice to the issue of Diet Charts for ART

patients.

Today I visited Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi and met with the a

dietician who prepared a diet chart for me. However I would like to mention that

none of the dieticians present there had any training on HIV or ART. The

department head is Dr S Khanna was not present at that time.

When asked a few questions they informed I was the first HIV patient that they

had interacted with in regards to preparation of diet chart.

It is very astonishing to know the fact that the dieticians in government

hospitals are unaware about the ART treatment as it should be made mandatory for

everyone atleast on ART to get a diet card prepared so that the PLWHA is aware

of the nutrition which needs to be taken alongwith ARV.
