Guest guest
Hi I'm glad you are seeing some improvement. I wonder why some spots are worse- it might be worth querying that as usually the helmet at least halts the progress of plagio. What kind of band is it? 15.6 mm is the amount of difference between the right back/left front of the head and the left back/right front of the head (if you imagine a large kiss on top of your child's head!). It tells you the degree of asymmetry. I think I am right in saying this would put 's plagio at moderate to moderate severe. I'm guessing this is probably an improvement on where you started- again you could ask your ortho. (mY daughter had 2.3cm asymmetry, which went down over the treatment period) Hope this info helps- will look at the pics when I get a chance!!! hannah (mum to Lucia, London, UK) Cranio grad > > He took measurements and said that some spots on her head had > slightly improved, but others havent or are worse. Guest guest
Just an FYI..a proper fitting band won't EVER make a baby's head worse. Not in any spot! You really should ask your ortho WHY parts of her head are now worse. That shouldn't ever happen. The only babies we've had whose bands made their heads worse were our babies in ill fitting bands. > > Hi > > I'm glad you are seeing some improvement. Guest guest
Hi I'd like to second what has said- I really think you need to go back to the ortho and find out why there has been worsening in some spots and not as much improvement as you would like. I've been following the stories of lots of babies here and I have to say the story you are telling reminds me of that of an older child (slow growth, not what you were expecting etc). Usually six months to ten months would be an ideal time to band a child, so to see anything less than good correction is quite unusual and I think you need to find out why. It may be that is a slow grower, but even so, any growth should have been redirected to the flat spots. Sorry to say this to you- I know you are doing so well for and it may be that this is just the way things are, but I do think you should get this checked out or see another provider for a free consultation (such as CT) because is just sounds a bit odd to me- and as said, there really should never be any worsening in the band, just maintenance of the problem at the very least. I think you need to go back asap and ask some searching questions. It may be they can help- but if you have the slightest suspicion that the band is not fitting properly (and it worries me they are going to leave it on for a few more months- usually six months would be the absolutely maximum, and mostly they outgrow by four months or earlier) or that the ortho is not experienced to deal with the situation, i would be tempted to get a second opinion elsewere. Good luck heather- sorry if we have stressed you out. But it sounds like you are also quite concerned by this as well, so it would be great if you could get some answers or some solutions to this- whether it be to accept what is happening (and have a reason for it) or in fact to perhaps question the effectiveness of treatment at this particular place. All the best, let us know what happens (and do get those initial measurements so you can see if progress has occurred that way as well). Guest guest
, I'm so very sorry to hear that some areas of adorable 's head are not improved or worse. I cannot tell you what to do but I think 4 mos. in this band is enough. I had thought that 4 mos. is the max, you should wear any band anyway. If you are still not happy with her current headshape, I would suggest researching other providers and getting a new Rx asap. If you have to travel to CT wouldn't it be worth it? They do not screw up nearly as much as this current place has for you. I still feel horrible about the way you were treated. I would like nothing more for you to be 100% pleased with your experience and for to receive the best correction possible. Good luck with asking your ortho some questions and please keep us posted. I hope I have not upset you in any way. I care very much about what happens to you and . Thanks and take care. Sue Colin F., 15 mos.
