Hi ,

How bad were the redspots?

If you had to keep the helmet off for a couple of days because of

them, you should call your orthotist and have it looked at. It could

need an adjustment. A normal redspot should last longer than an hour.

There was just one red spot. We have been to the dr office (OPA) and

they said to leave it off until it completely heals. The skin is

almost a normal tone now and we are just waiting on the flaky skin to

go away. They said we had overtightened the band, but we are so

careful to not do that??? The spot that is red is such a high point

on the back of his head, I feel that it was just rubbing alot with

him only wearing it for one week. He still has some growing in to it

to do.

There is so much to learn!

hey ,

was out of his band for a few days when he was first banded. He

had a pretty dry/ashy heat rash on his forehead. If Ethan's skin has

a bit of flakiness on it, and you have the band off already, I'd

suggest putting some Hydrocortizone on it. Maybe all the skin needs

is some extra moisture to help kick start the healing.

also had a heat rash on his sideburns just about 3 weeks ago.

Our tech told us to put Hydrocortizone on it, and it healed within a

few hours, it was amazing!!

Let me know how it works for you!! I have really got to sit down and

write you. If you need anything, please email me. We used to be seen

at OPA too.

That happens from time to time due to red spots or fever. Did you

have an adjustment yet?

We have had some kids out of their bands for days due to various

reasons. You said they did make an adjustment right? If not then

the red spots will most likely come back - sorry to be the bearer of

bad news. We've had kids get sick but usually sick kids aren't going

through growth spurts so they usually don't have any issues. In

Ethan's case it may need another adjustment sooner rather than later

since he could have had a growth spurt.
