Hi ,

Can you post some pics of the helmet?? We are in the DOC band, but

posting some pics may give other parents of Starbands an idea of what

it's doing. many may have been through the same thing, and can give

advice on the fit better if they see a pic.

You are right to be concerned. Do you have a digital camera to post

a picture? You should not have to put up with a bad fit until your

child grows into it, that doesn't make any sense!

Is his ear being smashed in the front or is it being pushed forward

from behind. CT told me that some pressure on the front of the ear

is okay. However, they told me if the ear is being pushed forward

then they'd need to fix it. Either way, if you're not comfortable

with it, I would definitely talk to my orthotist again. It's hard to

tell without seeing pics.

Good Luck,

My daughter has been in her STARband for 5 weeks. When she first

had it placed it shifted a lot. I went back and they added a little

spacer to tighten it until her head grew a little. The spacer

remained in their for about 1.5 weeks and then was removed. We also

had the problem of it slipping down to far in the front, which

required McKenna to tilt her head back in order to see. Our

orthotist shaved a little bit off the front and along with the

space, it fit perfect.

I have some pictures of McKenna in her STARband. Her album name

is " McKenna "

Where are you located and which ortho are you using? What kind of

plagio does your son have? Does he have any forehead asymetry that

would be worsened without proper holding? Is the whole forehead too

big (i.e. across the entire front)?

How much experience do the orthos have? I agree if it doesn't fit

right it can't correct the head shape. Some pictures would really

help us understand better your issues. If you can take and post some

take pictures with his band on and off. Take top (aerial), sides,

back and front.
