Guest guest Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 <unlurk> , You're right about PMI - it's insurance for the lender that a mortgage with a high loan-to-value ratio (low down payment) can be paid off if defaulted on in the early period of its term. The other type of Mortgage insurance that is not optional, also protects the lender - insuring that the lender will not lose their money by the death of the mortgage holder. As far as I know, no physical exam or medical information is required for these. Mortgage Life Insurance, whether through the lender or an insuror of your choice is optional, and is designed to protect the home owner's survivors by paying off all or part of the balance owed, in the case of the death of the insured. It is Decreasing Term Life, there are a gazillion different plans available, and it's highly likely that someone with PSC would be able to find an affordable plan with a short enough exclusion period for pre-existing conditions(like the 2 year one mentioned)to make it worthwhile. , no, I don't think you're being morbid at all. You've reached equilibrium with your disease - you know it's there, and you're going to deal with the things you can deal with, but you're not going to let it run your life. Good for you! , Medicaid is operated by each state, and funded largely by grants from the federal goverment. The programs of each state medicaid plan, and the eligibility for them, are determined by the state, with the only federal mandate being that whatever they offer to any citizen of the state they have to offer to all. Not all states offer the type of waiver program you described, and some offer one that that is even more liberal. Yes, I'm still here, guys...I read all the posts every day...but posting something is a convoluted process out here on the road, so I've mostly been a lurker lately. Sorry. Hello to all the newcomers - please continue to ask all those questions you've got. We old-timers know the feeling, and somebody will have an answer for you. Steve Rahn L Tx 9/6 & 9/8 '85 -Wash U.
