Guest guest Posted March 13, 2002 Report Share Posted March 13, 2002 PARKER COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM AND RESCUE 3 INTERNATIONAL Swiftwater Rescue Technician® Unit 1 (SRT1) The Swiftwater Rescue Technician 1 has been revised to meet the requirements of the NFPA 1670 Standard for Technical Rescue in the areas of water and rope. It's name has been modified slightly to (SRT1) as it is the first of two units needed for personnel to be considered technician level for water and rope This class is an intensive three-day, 30-hour class. It has one day of classroom instruction followed by two days developing and practicing water rescue skills. The initial emphasis is on developing self-rescue skills. Other objectives include an in-depth look at such subjects as: understanding water dynamics, handling hazards and obstacles, using basic rescue equipment, setting up technical rope systems, controlling in-water contact rescues, and much more. Swiftwater Rescue Technician Advanced® (SRTA) is the second of two units needed for personnel wanting to meet the requirements of the NFPA 1670 Standard at the technician level for water and rope (and also provides the competencies required by NFPA 1006). It integrates techniques learned in SRT1, as well as Incident Command level controls, advanced river/flood situations and high angle rope techniques. It has four to six hours of classroom presentation the first day followed by three and one-half days of hands-on skill development, demonstrations and a mock night river rescue scenario for a total of 33 hours. Dates: SRT1 MAY 17, 18, 19, 2002 SRT A JUNE 7, 8, 9, 2002 We also offer Awareness For Swiftwater Rescue, and Operations level for Swiftwater Rescue - Call for details EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Coast Guard approved type III or type V personal flotation device, water rescue helmet or climbing helmet (must drain water), foot protection, bathing suit, It is strongly recommended that you have a wet or dry suit. waterproof lights for SRT A, Gloves and fins are optional .SRTA requires rescue seat harness, vertical rescue helmet, gloves, chest harness or webbing. SRT ADVANCED $240 75.00 deposit to hold a space and $165.00 due first day of class. Rescue 3 International's refresher policy is 50% the cost of the Class. NFPA wants firefighters to go through the class ever 2 years and Rescue 3 recommends every 3 years.
