I think only with Hashi's, but I could be wrong there. High elevations are often suspect of Lupus I believe, but we can have slight elevations also. You may want to check on the internet to verify what I am saying (I will too). I just don't want you to panic. As for the antibodies, I personally feel it's important. I have Hashi's with high antibodies. My Grammie has hypothyroidism and I suspect Hashi's also. I am currently trying to get my mother tested because she has symptoms and a goiterous looking neck (my Grammie does too). We have some family members with severe illness and I am trying to see if there is a thyroid connection there. I just think it is prudent, especially for informing siblings and children, in the event that they start showing symptoms, plus it gives a definitive name to your disease. Guest guest
The ANA test (Antinuclear Antibodies) can be more indicative of lupus, though not necessarily. Antimicrosomal antibodies and antithyroglobulin antibodies are the two you need for Hashimoto's Disease. Labtestsonline.com has a table over in the section referring to antibodies testing that shows generally which antibodies indicate which autoimmune disease. Antibodies test Just a question. Should I ask my Dr to test my thyroid antibodies? (I was in a car accident - neuro did an ANA test that tests for antibodies in general and one sub test was slightly elevated.) Or would being on Thyrolar do anything to the antibodies? My Dr never did tell my why I'm hypo (with a TSH of 94 it was obvious.) I know my great aunt and aunt have thyroid problems so it could be genetic. Also if I ask her to test my antibodies what do I ask for or is it just thyroid antibodies? (My Dr is cool and when I explain to her why she'll probably agree.) Since one subtest of that ANA was elevated I want to rule out thyroid antibodies. Guest guest
Louise Correction: The site for the table for different types of antibodies testing is www.labtestsonline.net , not .com. In one of the paragraphs there, talking about antibodies, it tells you to click into a link that will download a table of these antibodies and testing for them. Antibodies test Just a question.
