Guest guest
Kennedy did not and does not like the stretches but it has really helped to distract her. I can hold her in front of a mirror and have her "get the baby" and she laughs. also, I stretch her in my lap on the floor with a nice distracting toy. You will find what works for you. Our PT said not to fight her because it would strengthen the wrong side. Talk to your therapist though. Good luck!! I read the how to tips but they don't address how to get baby to go along... do you just do it to them if they are working against you? I am sure the therapist will answer this for me on monday when we see her again.Daramom to jackrd.> > > > > > hello. isabella has had therapy since around 3 months old and as > > of > > > early november the doc showed us stretches to do on her with > every > > > diaper change...for her torticollis. her neck was looking so > good, > > > in fact, you wouldn't know she had the tort to look at her. but > > the > > > past week she has been tilting her head worse than ever. we were > > > told there may be times it would look worse because of growth > > > spurts, the weight of the helmet, even the weather. however, > > before > > > the regression only seemed to last a day or two. she has been > like > > > this for a week now. the last time we went to the doc he told us > > if > > > it wasn't better at her next visit she would have to wear the > > > collar...24/7 for 6 weeks. i really don't want her to have to go > > > through this. could we be stretching her too much?? does this > > > regression seem normal?? any advice/similar experiences?? > thanks.> > > > > > > > > crystal (bella's proud but very stressed mommy)> > > tort/plagio> > > STARbanded 11/24/04> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > For more plagio info
Guest guest
Dara, At 4 months he may be a fighter but he's still not strong enough to really fight hard enough to strengthen the other side. At least that was the impression I was given by my PT and Cranial Tech (and it seemed to be substanitated by folks here and na's progress). Now when they get to be 11, 12, 15 months then you have to sometimes move away from passive stretches and do all play therapy. So, yes you will have to fight him a bit and let him cry. It's only 30 seconds a few times a day. na didn't like them. We tried to make them as entertaining as possible. We also did lots of active moves - getting her to look at toys and such. Do you have a big exercise ball - those activities are great for strengthening. mom to na DOC Grad 2/04 tort Resolved South Carolina www.thefilyaws.com dixondara <dixondara@...> wrote: Yes, I agree with you... that discribes jack, tort that is pulling his ear back... we have been in tp one week. it seems hard to stretch because at four months jack already knows how to resist the stretching... what in the world do you all do? Guest guest
Target, Walmart, any place with exercise equipment, free weights or yoga stuff. Sometimes it's called a yoga ball. You can also use a very big kids play ball. Just something you can sit/lay your baby on that isn't too flimsy - ie won't squish too much under the weight. A really big beach ball may even work. dixondara <dixondara@...> wrote: I am going to get a ball... where should I look for one?> > > > > > > > hello. isabella has had therapy since around 3 months old and > as > > > of > > > > early november the doc showed us stretches to do on her with > > every > > > > diaper change...for her torticollis. her neck was looking so > > good, > > > > in fact, you wouldn't know she had the tort to look at her. > but > > > the > > > > past week she has been tilting her head worse than ever. we > were > > > > told there may be times it would look worse because of growth > > > > spurts, the weight of the helmet, even the weather. however, > > > before > > > > the regression only seemed to last a day or two. she has been > > like > > > > this for a week now. the last time we went to the doc he told > us > > > if > > > > it wasn't better at her next visit she would have to wear the > > > > collar...24/7 for 6 weeks. i really don't want her to have to > go > > > > through this. could we be stretching her too much?? does this > > > > regression seem normal?? any advice/similar experiences?? > > thanks.> > > > > > > > > > > > crystal (bella's proud but very stressed mommy)> > > > tort/plagio> > > > STARbanded 11/24/04> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > For more plagio info
