Guest guest
Jack has not seen a doctor for this yet (other than our ped). Our ped poopooed the idea of a band but agreed that he needs therapy for tort. I am not giving in that easily. Jack doesn't have a flat spot; he had inutero constraint and his head just keeps getting worse. He is 4 months now. What does Jack's case look like to you, mild, mod, severe?? Thank you all so much. I am still interested to know it there are advantages of comfort for the child with the softer CT band compared to the Starband? We would have to drive farther to get CT, but I would do it if I it would be better.
Guest guest
Hi again I can't answer the CT vs STAR, b/c my daughter was in a different band altogether. I do see Jack's plagio though, and some ear misalignment. I'm no specialist by far, but would probably classify Jack's plagio as moderate. Guest guest
Hi, It is hard to tell from the top view you posted. Do you have a boppy pillow? That makes it easier to take that top view shot. I do see his plagio, plus facial and ear assymetry. With all that factored in, I'd say he's probably moderate. In our links section there are severity assessments you can do yourself too. Many peds do not recommend bands, mine included, as they're not informed enough about them. My daughter was very severe to begin with and she didn't think we needed to see a specialist at all even! Go with your gut and demand a referral if you need to at least to get another opinion from someone who is plagio friendly. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma --- In Plagiocephaly , " dixondara " <dixondara@y...> wrote: > > Jack has not seen a doctor for this yet (other than our ped). Guest guest
Hello and welcome to this group. From the photos you posted, it is really hard for me to tell. Initially I was thinking mild. If you are up to it, why not make a trek to CT or somewhere else to see if you can get a free consultation and profesional evaluation? But again from my first glance, I thought he was fine. It is going to definitely be a purely personal choice and decision on your part (as it is in many cases!) Good luck and let us know. Guest guest
Thanks Sue. Since I first wrote that we got Jack diagnoses with Tort and start TP tomorrow. His asymetry is hard to capture on film but his ears are off by at least a centimeter, maybe two. I sent the same pictures to Dr. Jsyrdh Panchal (Neurosurgen) in Okla City on his posted email address. He wrote me back and said it looked like Jack could benefit from a helmet. Then he said if I would come to OKC he would do the evaluation and he gave me the office phone number. The earlies appt they can give me is January 20th. He refers to a Orthotist that uses Star Bands. Jack will be five months old on Jan 20th, and older by the time he could get a band. It is at least for hours drive to CT clinic in Dallas and 2.5 hours to OKC. Do you think I should load the van and head to Dallas? > > > > Jack has not seen a doctor for this yet (other than our ped).
