I don't know that I have any advice. I am in CA as well and have

felt so bad for in his DOC band. I just wrote a note about

repositioning with the band on and after reading your note, I wonder

if it is the strap that prevents from laying on his right side

comfortably. I am not familiar with the Starband but with our DOC

band we were told to have wear it 23 hours a day so he has

been doing so for 3 weeks. He had a couple restless nights (not

entirely uncommon for him anyway) but adjusted rather quickly to

wearing it.

Good luck. Where are you in CA? I am in Ventura County.

,

My daughter liked to sleep on her side also in the beginning when

she first got her helmet, but we didn't have any problems with her

waking up at night. Our doctor told us to keep it on her throughout

the whole night so that she would get used to it and realize that it

wasn't coming off. She too had to start wearing it during the hot

summer months, so we just dressed her in cooler clothing to make her

more comfortable and we also purchased a small fan to make it cooler

in her room. Maybe you could try this too??? Hope it gets better for

you!

, I don't have any good advice because we did not have that

problem at all. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear it. I

wonder if there is something else that is causing the wakening. I

think it is very important to try to keep it on as much as possible,

especially at night when supposedly they do most of their growing.

Keep trying and maybe he will get used to it and not wake up so much.

GL and please let us know how he's doing.

Thanks for the advice and support. I'll try to stick with it for a while and

hope that

things will improve.

I'm glad your son adjusted quickly Dawn, hopefully mine will too. We live in

Santa

Clara county--about 15 minutes north of San and 45 minutes south of San

Francisco.

Hi,

My daughter also had trouble sleeping in her helmet for the first

week or so. She would roll on her side or belly and then cry. And we

would take the helmet off and she would go right to sleep. I had her

wear it during all naps for a few days and about half the night,

then we just left it on all night. When she would wake up upset we

would go in and calm her in her crib and leave her. After only 2

nights of that she now sleeps all night in her helmet. She has even

learned how to lay on her side comfortably.
