Guest guest
As long as they fade easily then it shouldn't be a problem but occasionally we do see a band that looks to be too tight. Would you like to post a picture of so we can see the fit of his band? Natasha Atlanta, GA > > is still hanging in there. Guest guest
I posted two pictures in the N. folder. If you could take a look it would be great! I'm really not sure about the fit. While it seems tight around his cheeks, it really is sliding to the left sometimes (about half an inch) and seems loose around his forehead. Could the sliding be causing the problem too? seems content though and only complains when I take it off / on. Thanks a lot for your help! Guest guest
Hi there That's one cute child, that's for sure! He's so gorgeous and looks so handsome in his blue band. I'm a bit broody today, and these cute pictures aren't helping- I've just been to playgroup as well and was cooing over all the young ones of a few weeks old. Anyway, on to the topic- the bands are always loose on one side in particular, as there has to be space for the head to grow out. The holding points are usually the cheeks and the prominent bits, and the spaces are where the head needs to grow. It will shift about a bit especially after naps and so on, and also earlier on in the treatment as they have yet to grow into them. After a nap I usually had to shift Lucia's band back. The usual rule is movement over one inch is too much, so you are well within that. If you are still concerned about the side bits, you could ask your orthotist to shave the smallest bit off next time you go, but if the spots are fading and there a bit but not too much shifting, then the band probably fits well. He's soooooo cute. Sorry- just had to repeat that! Hannah (mum to Lucia, London, UK) Cranio grad > > > > > > is still hanging in there. Guest guest
Thanks Hannah! If he could just stay little... :-) I'm glad to hear a little bit of shifting is ok. It is so good to have you expert moms here. Makes us newbies feel much better, especially since your babies had such great results. I'm so happy you're sticking around even after your babies graduate. Thanks again! Anya > > > > > > > > is still hanging in there. Guest guest
As long as they're fading w/in the hour the red spots are okay. They don't necessarily hurt him, so you don't have to feel bad. If you think about it, if you cross your legs or something you'll have a big red spot from the pressure of your legs touching, but it certainly isn't painful and fades fairly quickly. Also, you don't have to have red spots to show the band is working. My daughter wore three helmets and the only time she had those " good " pressure points in her bulging areas were at the very beginning of treatment in her first band. Also, my Hannah was quite the chubba back then and never had red spots on her cheek unless she slept on that side. The sideburns may need a bit of a trim, so talk to your ortho about it at your next appt (or sooner if it gets worse!). , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com/hannahs_noggin/ > > is still hanging in there.
