Guest guest
Welcome to the group Alana I have to say, having children and having Fibro is hard, I personally don't have children yet, as I am not married, but I have two sisters that have children and they are often at my place with them. Finding ways to explaine to a child that you're tired or sore is always a hard one. But the treatment for Fibro is different for everyone. Most doctors I've spoken to have suggested light fitness for fibro patience. Usually a nice swim or even a short walk. Something to keep the blood flowing. I've tried that myself, the swimming seems to help, but the walking is out of the question. I've also noticed since being Diagnosed with Fibro back in 01 it seems that my energy level has gone down, now I've been told that is due to our lack of getting a full nights sleep, but sometimes I can nap in the middle of the day. Medication sometimes is the cause. But at any rate, things will sometimes get better, being that you were just diagnosed it may take the doctor a few weeks to get the right regiment of medication diet and exercise so that you may still do things as normal as possible. Good luck and welcome. Hugs Vicki/ Lady Vader Group Co Owner Alana wrote: Hello. My name is Alana, Im 29 and live in Ohio. I was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia this afternoon. Ive always had periods of just not feeling well, but I havent felt well at all for the past 18 months...since my daughter was born. I went to the Dr a couple times...they checked my thyroid, told me I was probably just overwhelmed with 3 young children...etc. But the past couple months have been very bad...and my husband convinced me to go back to the Dr. I saw a different one today. While I was talking he just starting pressing parts of my back, I was in tears it hurt so bad. he told me I have fibro and recommended a book on alternative treatments.A lot of things make sense now....like never having enough energy to really play with my kids, or do things with my kids that other moms do. I try really hard, but then crash SO hard. And then its hard to have friendships because when my friends come over with their kids and its chaotic, it takes SO much out of me. After I had my second son I was back in shape by 6 months post partum...I was training to compete in fitness, I felt awesome, could think clearly, had energy to spare. Then I was pregnant with dd and it was a miserable pregnancy and very painful and we ate take out and delivery all the time. After she was born we went vegan, and thats when my symptoms got worse and have continued to get worse. Is it possible that my diet is triggering things??? Im wondering if I should switch to a higher protein diet with grass fed meats, eggs and milk. Right now it just really hit me that I may never be able to really pursue fitness again, or be able to do the things with my children that I really want to. Im about 30lbs overweight right now because I havent been able to really exercise this past year...Ive tried but then felt fluish for days after. Guest guest
Alana, Welcome. From what I have seen, there are 2 ways to help yourself-one is research, learn about your condition, there are wonderful sites on the web that can help, I can send you these links to help with your research, they are very informative. The second thing is a little more difficult, and that is, to find a doctor that understands what you are going through. My clients go to Neurologists. One of my clients has gone to a PsychNeuroEndocrinologist. He's very good and has helped her immensely. I hope I have helped, Aradia --- Lady Vader/ Dutton wrote: > Welcome to the group Alana > > I have to say, having children and having Fibro is > hard, I personally don't have children yet, as I am > not married, but I have two sisters that have > children and they are often at my place with them. > Finding ways to explaine to a child that you're > tired or sore is always a hard one. Then he actually said " Its not a satisfactory diagnosis for me or for you, because there is no way to fix it " he then recommended that I look into alternative therapy because I might find more answers there. Im not big on taking medicines....I had 3 un medicated childbirths, and dont like to take OTC medicines. He told me I should take a yoga, pilates, or fibro water class or some other form of gentle exercise. What is so frustrating, is between my 2nd and 3rd child I felt SO good, I was eating a clean low carb diet, exercising and weight lifting daily, and was about to begin training to compete in fitness...then I got pregnant with my daughter and was so sick the whole time we ate take out and delivery food. After she was born, we went vegan...felt great at first, but have been feeling progressively worse...she is 19 mo now. Im wondering if i do better on a protein based diet? Guest guest
Alana, I am new to the group so I hope I am doing this right. I had fibromyalgia for eight years. I am now cured. My diet was the reason for my pain. Let me explain. I have always been allergic to dairy. About 8 years ago after so much stomach trouble I went to see a doctor when I lived in Texas and he said maybe your intolerant to dairy. I thought okay I'll give up dairy and start drinking soy milk.I also started eating Tofu and a lot of stuff with soy in it. I also was in great shape. I worked out 6 days a week and was the size I wanted to be. However over the 8 years I started having a lot of muscle pain, brain fog, constant depression, forgettig words ect... Two years ago however I went to culinary school, even though I was in constant pain. Anyway, I worked for about three months and I was hurting so bad I thought I can't take this any more. I went to a naturopathic doctor and she told me to do a food elimination diet. I thought that is just too much work I will get my food allergies tested. Sure enough I was allergic to soy, and dairy plus a few nuts and mushrooms. Once I quit eating soy and dairy all my pain went away. I am now pain free for 6 months! The problem is that soy is in everything, even tuna! I sure am glad I have culinary training; it helps me with recipe substitutions. I have even created a vegan cheese sauce that doesn't have soy in it. I intend to market, unfortunately I am allergic to the nuts it is made from but hopefully others won't be. Take care and I hope this helps, Loretta > Hello. My name is Alana, Im 29 and live in Ohio. I was just > diagnosed with Fibromyalgia this afternoon. Guest guest
Loretta, Is soy listed on the tuna cans? I can't believe its in tuna unless packed in oil? I only use the water packed. /Dachsies for Life
Guest guest
, I only eat water packed tuna too and yes soy is listed on the cans. I have to go to our local New Seasons to get tuna which has more small company products. Check it out when you go shopping next time. Lecithin is usally soy derived so if foods have that listed I stay away from them too. I went to an allergy, asthama and dermetologist clinic to have my foods tested because my insurance paid for it. One can also go to a naturopathic doctor to get test. I think they do blood test which covers more allergies. Here in Oregon the cost is about 200 dollars out of pocket. Hope you have a good day today. Loretta > Loretta, > Is soy listed on the tuna cans? > I can't believe its in tuna unless packed in oil? Guest guest
Yes Alana, If you made a drastic diet change and eliminated meat, otherwise known as protein it could be responcible for your apparent decline in health. People with fibromyalgia dont process nutients properly, have problems converting the foods we eat and then our muscles also have trouble using those nutrients. So its important to continue eating protein and to take vitamin supplements. A vegatarian diet is wonderful for people whose bodys work correctly. But if our bodies worked correctly we wouldnt have fibromyalgia. deb

I finally found some that is packed just in olive oil, nothing else, and was reasonably priced....some were like 4$ a can! Ok....Im not vegan anymore. i saw my chiro on Friday...first visit, and he told me to get the meat back in my diet YESTERDAY! LOL! I have to admit...that the brain fog has lifted, Im feeling a bit more energy and feel better than I have for the first time in over a year. He also told me to take CoQ10 and fish oils along with my multi vitamins. The chiro visit felt so good. It was a little nervewracking having someone yanking and pushing all over my body...but afterwards my muscles were so relaxed and I just felt good. He also did some sort of light therapy where he put this thing on all the tender spots that I have. I think its photon light therapy? He said it helps heal inflammation. He worked on me for over an hour, my back was a mess.
