Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Sorry to hear about Paige's irritation. I'm sure some of the more experienced Mom's will be able to help you more, but when 's helmet wasn't fitting correctly, I would let her wear it 3-4 hours and take it off for a few hours. I'm not sure that was the right thing to do, but she seemed to do OK with it. I would give Mike a call-he will be in the Charlotte office today. 's sweats a lot too and her head gets really stinky. I switched to my son's pineapple shampoo and that seems to help a little. I dress her very lightly. I hardly every put socks on her- I am getting a little tired of strangers telling me my baby needs socks on her feet-it gets annoying after a while. We are doing much better with the helmet. We saw Mike last week and he made major adjustments and the helmet is fitting great now. I am no longer 2nd guessing my decision to use Hanger. I just had to get over my feelings that CT must be better, because it cost more. Stupid I know, but I didn't want to give Sara inferior care just to save a few bucks! We saw Mike again yesterday and he thinks we will be finished before Christmas!!! Her head looks much rounder already and she's only been at 23hr/day for 6 days. He will do another scan when we go back after Thanksgiving. I am soooo excited, because I had resigned myself to her having to wear it thru mid January. Gotta go, my little angel is waking up! Guest guest
LeaAnn, Fortunately, I have my appointment tomorrow morning with Mike, so we'll see what he can do. I'm really thinking that the current irritation is because of a growth spurt. The good news is that when looking at her head, the flat spot is fading big time!! I hope he'll do measurements this week at our appointment. I'm so happy for on her progress!! That's awesome news! Keep up the great work. Thanks for the suggestion on the shampoo idea. For now, I think I'll continue to clean the helmet a few times a day to keep bacteria to a minimum. And I probably need to take off her socks. I'm always cold -- I dress her lightly due to the helmet, but I'm wondering if it should be even lighter yet. It's mostly when she napping that the sweating is the worst. She's not using a blanket -- wearing her regular clothes, but I'll be sure to take off her socks if she's wearing them. And maybe the ceiling fan should be on. I just hate for her to get chilled. But I'll try that! You know, LeaAnn, I understand the questioning about the cost. My husband and I both wondered about that too. But after looking into the whole thing, I still think that we're getting great care and a great band at Hanger. Hanger's band actually probably could cost the same as CT's, but I think that they discount it knowing that a lot of people will be paying out of pocket for the band since insurance often can be tricky. I'm super happy for you and that Mike was able to adjust the band for improved fit. We'll be hoping for the same tomorrow!! Please keep us in your prayers. Guest guest
I would definitely call the ortho. That should not occur. Can you post any pictures? Some red marks are common but they should fade within an hour. PLease let us know what you find out. Angie and Jenna skin irritation > My son has had his Hanger helmet for a week.
