I too gained 30 pounds in one month with Lyrica. I did not notice any difference

in pain level and perhaps 30 days wasn't long enough to give it a real chance

but the weight gain was not acceptable to me.

I took Neurontin for years. I hated what it did to my short term memory. I was

very zombie like.

Now I have so much gone wrong we just strive to find a pain level I can function

with.

Hi ,

That's a good question as I've heard of so many who've gained weight on these

meds, particularly Lyrica. I believe the weight gain may be more due to

increased appetite rather than water weight but I don't have medical references

to support that. I've been on Neurontin for 1.5 years and haven't gained weight.

I did modify my diet a little to include more water, fruits and veggies because

I also take Norco. The combination of these two drugs was causing constipation

and I wanted to deal with that through diet. This change may have been helpful

in not gaining weight.

If possible, it's also important to exercise as you are able. You may want to

talk to a PT who is knowledgeable about RSD and get their suggestions of

exercises for you to keep as much mobility as possible and keep your whole body

moving...but only as much as you are able without aggravating your RSD! I do

exercises while sitting or laying on the floor because my RSD is in my left

foot...just a thought :).

Where is your RSD located? Are you already taking Neurontin or Lyrica?

Hugs,

Carol

It's been a few years. My memory has been affected by my illness. I have to say

it must have helped or I would not have taken it so long. But truthfully I

cannot really say. It's gone it's gone it's gone

I don't have RSD(that I know of..lol)

I have degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and whatever else in my lower

back. I am due for another MRI because I have had every injection they can give

me with no success.

I just had a bilateral radio frequency ablation on the 13th, and I am in more

pain than I have ever been in. I wish they could freakin undo it!grrr That's my

vent for the morning, thanks for listening. lol

With me when I had to take Neurontin a few years ago ,it did help with the pain

but I gained weight really fast by water weight. It made my feet and legs swell

up like balloons so my Doctor took me off it .I am still on Lasix for the

swelling.

Blessed be,
