Guest guest
Topper, Do you live in a humid part of the country? That might explain why you don't drink that much water. Here it's so dry so you sweat and your body can get dehydrated and you can feel it. When you are in a humid environment when it's hot your body can't sweat and you have no way of feeling if your body is thirsty. hmmmm to prove this point you can visit, let's say, Pheonix in mid July. (Famoust last words - but it's a dry heat!!!!) Another thing would be to try different waters. Yes there is a difference in taste. I like Aquafina. It has a crisp taste. I don't like Dannon. Also fruit juice is ok (as long as it is fruit juice.) Soda pop is a no no. Esp caffinated ones. What I will sometimes get is Gatorade when it is really really hot. Oh and fruit juice popsicles are good too! Louise
Guest guest
I don't recommend much fruit juice for hydration. The sugar in fruit juice pulls fluid from your system into your intestine for dilution purposes. That is why some people get diarrhea when they take in too much fruit juice, and why they recommend giving infants/toddlers only a few ounces a week once they are over 12 months. jen -- Water (Topper) Also fruit juice is ok (as long as it is fruit juice.) Guest guest
I'm in Minnesota... not dry.. not real humid.. I sweat a lot.. always have... I do filtered water.. a Brita pitcher... I feel more comfortable using that then bottled waters, after finding out what some of that stuff is treated with... It's just a matter of me doing it, drinking the water, I mean.. I just flat don't like it.... Today I'm adding about a tablespoon of fruit juice concentrate to my 16 oz mug... it's not a strong flavor, but it's a pretty color!!! I've already drank my 6 mugs... more than that in a day and I'm up all night on bladder runs... but I've still got about two hours to go before I head for bedxercises.. so I'll probably do one more mug... I need to put some serious thought to getting rid of the edema in my legs.. there is something still out of balance.. just need to figure out what.... suggestions? Guest guest
Couple of suggestions, Pard! One is that maybe add a touch of lemon juice to the water. I learned this when I lived in Vegas--it took out the nasty taste of the water and seem to add a bit more vitamin c. On the subject of edema..... first have your feet up quite often, and also.......keep well hydrated!!!!!!! Guest guest
I've rearranged the office so that I can put my feet up on another chair and do that as often as I can... If I stop working at the computers and just watch tv for a bit.. MY LAW says that I have to put my feet up... if I'm in the kitchen visiting or watching TV, MY LAW says that I have to put my feet up... that's how I've gotten rid of a lot of the soft puffy swelling in my feet and ankles.... I made a 'chair desk' a couple of years ago that I stopped using because it irritated my stomach.. now with my stomach being so much less... I want to dig it out again... It straps onto the back of my chair with the desk part in front of me.. much like the 'table' on a baby's high chair.. but at an angle so that the keyboard is in the proper position.... that way I can swivel and move and tilt to my hearts content and still be typing... It was my first attempt and finding ways to get movement out of me and still allow me to work.... but the pressure on my stomach seemed to make my intestinal problems worse... but... well... that's all working correctly now... and I've been staring at the thing... thinking it's time to get it hooked up again..... I'm going off topic... skip from here down if you're tight for time.... I found the most absolutely coolest keyboard in all the world and wanted one so bad.. but the company I worked for downsized and I was a victim.. so coming up with 500 bucks for the thing.. well.. just wasn't gonna be... It was a two piece keyboard, each half mounted on the arm of the chair... you could then tilt it - forward/backward and up/down to get the perfect angle.. you could just kick back in your chair with your arms in a comfy position and just type... Oh, each half also had a touchpad.. so no mouse... I still love that keyboard.. It's on my wish list for when I'm really rich!!! Anyway.. it's with that in mind that I came up with my 'chair desk' so that I had freedom of movement and could adjust my position at will and still continue working.... I can even rock and type at the same time... .... and now that I've sung it's praises.. I'm getting it out and hooking it up... I've been wanting to do it for several weeks.. but had a case of the lazies..... Adding citrus to water is a great idea... but finances don't allow it... I got three half gallons of juice as part of my payment for last weekend... I'm making ice cubes out of them... so that I can add one ice cube to each mug of water.. it will give it a bit of color and a hint of taste and should increase my consumption.... I hope.... hehehehehe Topper () *computer geek and daughter of an inventor* On Wed, 28 Apr 2004 14:48:03 -0500 " Feisty\(ThyroFeisty\) " writes: > Couple of suggestions, Pard! > One is that maybe add a touch of lemon juice to the water.
