Velcro Issue

I just have a quick question...after the last adjustments on Milans

cap, there is some extra velcro that hangs over when we tighten cap.

This is getting caught on his crib sheets and his head gets stuck. We

can't cut it off because he will need the extra length once his head

grows more. Anyone else had issues with this? Not really sure what to

do about it, it is quite the pain in the but - he has woken up a few

times at night lately because his head is stuck to the side and he

cant move it! I was thinking to put another piece of velcro on the

extra tab to cover it....any ideas?

That is bizarre. Another piece of velcro sounds good but really, your

orthotist should fix it somehow. Why would you need extra if he

grows? The closure should not open at all as he grows so it should

always be the same length (I would think). As he grows, they just

need to cut into the inner foam, not open up the band at all. Anyone

else correct me if I'm wrong.

My son actually had more velcro sticking out at the end of treatment

than at the beginning. He started out with the velcro lining up

exactly. There is now about 2 inches sticking over because as his

head grew and parts were shaved out, it started slipping over his

eyes and ears, so I was told to just tighten it up. His head was

supposed to grow into the spaces inside the band, not out sideways

where the velcro was holding it. He never got stuck on anything (your

poor baby--what a funny visual!) but it does attract hair and catch

on things. I would ask your ortho about it and see if you can cut it

off.
